Broward College Acceptance

Published

hey to all,

right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Sassygirl, i would suggest the North campus, only beacuse the of the RUMORS i've heard about the other campuses. Plus the drive isnt too far for you anyways.

Leavingteaching4RN, I have ALWAYS stressed with anything that I have said that it is referring to the South campus i.e first hand information. I don't know anyone going to North so I neve said anything specific to north outside of the schedule which is fact. However, thanks for the perspective from a North student.

Leavingteaching4RN, do you think that my sis would be able to register for Pharm at Central/North even though she is deferring. I know that it is not a NuR prefix, however, I know that they had stopped allowing people to register for this class unless they were accepted into the nursing program. it would be great if she could register for pharm during the summer and when she starts in Aug have it under her belt.

p.s I do know of one girl who was able to register last fall for pharm online even though she was not in the program.

How are your studies coming?

what hospitals are for the north campus clinical sites?

sorry if i stepped on any toes! i just wanted to be sure that the students beginning in may didn't start to focus on pharm since south doesn't have any seats for the summer program. i have heard that students fail pharm at south. luckily, that's not so at north.

i've heard that you can take pharm at bc central campus. i've heard some students say you can take it face-to-face with dr k. then, i've heard others say they took it online with another professor, who was a lot more difficult. so, i guess it depends on the semester.

the nursing dean at north told me that bc would accept the pharm course from pbcc.

how are your studies coming?

my studies are coming along well. so far, only a's and b's!! (knock on wood) i'm graduating soon, but i'm not too excited. i'm really starting to doubt if i'm going to enjoy working as a nurse. i'm going to give it my best shot, though.

what hospitals are for the north campus clinical sites?

north broward, imperial pt, coral springs, university, northwest, plantation (for peds), and fmc (for psych).

[color=#483d8b]i think i got 'em all, but i'm not positive. i know the clinical sites are all in the north area of the county except for fmc and plantation.

i have couple questions about the may program, can anyone please help me out.

1. is the first semester(may program) that is shorthen , or all the semesters?

2. what is the average length nursing of each semester (im thinking 8 weeks but not sure).

thank you.

everyone is talking about the intensity of the may program and is going to defer there seat. thanks for the clarity

summer courses are 6 weeks. fall and spring courses are 8 weeks. 2 weeks doesn't seem like a big difference, but the courses are already tough at 8 weeks. with that said, this isn't the first time bc has admitted students during the summer. so, others have made it through process i and ii during the summer. you can conquer the summer courses. just be prepared to study hard.

So only Process 1 and 11 are 6 weeks long correct? the remainder of the nursing program...the courses are 8 weeks right?

i think if you begin in the summer, you take process i and ii the first summer ('09) and orthro-neuro the second summer ('10). i'm pretty sure the students who began last summer are taking orthro this summer. i'll double check when the summer schedule is posted and let you know.

thank you so much Leavingteaching for clearing things up. YOU ROCK!!!

Leavingteaching4rn: Thanks for your responses. Regarding your career choice, you seem like a very intelligence person so I am going to wish you well however your career choice pan out. In whatever field that you ultimately decide to work in, whether it be nursing or back to teaching, I have a feeling that you will do and be fine.

Good luck

ps. btw, I hear that some hospitals in south florida will begin to take a look at cutting back benefits. I just hope by the time I am finished that this 'recession' is over!

lol, as a former south bcc nursing student, I can say that I always heard the same types of rumors about other campuses--- that north was the best, south was in the middle, and central was the worst of the campuses. It's funny to read how other people hear the same types of rumors.

South campus has changed a lot of faculty that was there when I went there. The farm teacher has changed from worse to worser or so I hear, the process teacher was doing her last semester intership of her MSN program when I was there, and she was doing my peds lectures, and she was just a mess, just would read from the paper.

I'm just so happy I am out of there :-)

I have a buddy who graduated from north this past december who lives a block from south campus--she transfered to north after failing 2 classes & going to LPN school.

question for those who starting in May

the certificates (hiv, domestic violence, tb etc) did she say is has to have the LICENSE NUMBER and the BROKER NUMBER encripted on the certificate??

or is it just the license number? i found a school but their certificate only has the license number...im unsure and the campus is closed till next week. being that im on vaction this week i wanted to take care of all my paperwork. ty
