any time you take CEU courses, it has to have a FL license on it, it will say FBN# on it---------- if it doesn't have it then it doesn't count.there is a website recommended by BC staff, I learned about it when my CEU's expired during nursing school. it's called ceufast.com and you pay $30/yr and you get all the CEU's you need except CPR
Hey BumblebeeRN,
Did you use ceufast.com to renew your certificate? If so, were the certificates accepted by BC and your employer?
Thanks

2Bnurse1, my sis who is currently in the program at South, took all of her CEUS at Sheridan Votech online. It included CPR, HIV, Domestic Abuse, Errors and Omissions etc- I think it took less than 2wks. She did have to go to the CPR in person and 1 of the other sessions, she had to go to Central but it was $100 or more less than anywhere else including BC.
LeavingTeaching4RN:I am starting Process I and II in North Campuse in May and want to know if you can tell me if you used any NCLEX books or any other books that helped you to prepare for the test, since I know the test are mainly critical thinking. Thanks.
I only use the assigned textbooks. I don't use a supplementary materials. Some of my classmates use the Fundamentals of Success and Test Success Books recommended by BC. Some also use NCLEX Review Books.
The book list can be found at http://webhome.broward.edu/~gbrickma/Calendars/BOOKLIST%20-%2008-09_Process-North.pdf
The process instructor's website is http://webhome.broward.edu/~gbrickma/index.htm
Congrats!!
So far Ive done everything that they said we were suppose to turn in except my CEU's. (ill do those this weekend on the computer)
After i done got poked 4 times for the shots we were suppose to get done(which still hurts btw), my friend told me i should have done blood work first...then wait for the results to see if im + or -. then that will determined how many shots i get. But stupid me went ahead all the shots...oh well. I guess i learn for next time.
Hows everyone else doing? anxiety kicking in yet
Do I need a rolling backpack?

Its really up to what you feel is right for yourself and/or your monetary/insurance situation. For me, I don't have a fear of getting vaccines, so my choice is to just get them. I also don't have insurance, and the titer tests are more expensive than the vaccines themselves, so that's another reason I am choosing to just get the needed vaccines rather than pay for a blood test and then have to pay for the vaccines on top of it. I personally just feel to save money and time that I will get the vaccines done and over with. So, you're not stupid! :) The only shots you'll need again, I believe, are TB and Tetorifice. TB I "think" is yearly (not sure, I thought the BC paperwork said that) and Tetorifice is every 10 years.
By the way, I am still so glad you got in! I am really excited for myself to be applying at the end of this semester. I can't believe the time is almost here to apply! You have to keep us posted as time goes on. You start May 12th, right?
Hey sunray, we start on May 12th . Im getting anxious. You remembered couple months ago you told me to get Perry Potter books for Process n get the reading on? Well thank you:bow:, I started reading it...but its hard cuz im trying to focus on my Pharm class...that way atleast Ill have that out of the way. Best wishes when you apply girl!!!
I paid $280 for 4 shots $65 chest xray and $35 for a physical. When I went to a walk in clinc and ask for the prices i would have got them all for $170 plus the physical wich is $35. I COULD HAVE KICK MYSELF, why didnt I shop around first . Dont you just hate when you purchase something and found out its less down the street?
But i did shop around for the CEU's though (thank goodness)
They told me I have to come back after 4 weeks for the Hepatis B shot, can someone tell me if BCC requires the second stick. Im asking because in all honesty i DONT want to get poked again lol.
another question do we need 2 MMR vaccines? she gave me 1 but on the paper it seem likes you need two shots.
Thank you
The Hep B is a series of 3 shots.....one now, the second about a month later, and then the third several months after that (could be up to 6 months, but I can't remember). You obviously won't have all three done in time, but you can "refuse" the Hep B on paper for now, and then when its done, you can show the school proof, so don't worry about not finishing that one before you start if its not. BC requires the entire Hep B series. From what I know, if you forgot to get the second or third shots in time, you have to repeat the entire series over again (my brother in law did this and had 2 shots down, but forgot to go back for the third, and had to do the 2 over and get the 3rd, so he had a total of 5 shots at the end, ugh!).
The MMR vaccine has been around since 1971, and I belive everyone got the first dose sometime around their first birthday, unless of course their parents did not allow their children to get vaccines. In 1989 the second dose of MMR was added. I don't know if at the time schools required that vaccine in addition to the others that are required for children to attend school, so some people may not have ever known there was a second dose, and may not have received a second dose. I happened to be a freshman in high school when there was a measles or mumps outbreak here and so they made everyone go back and get the booster before they could come back to school, so thats when I got it. Now kids get the second dose around 4-5 yrs old, but some of us who are around 30 yrs old and up might not have that. If you were up to date on all your vaccines for school (elementary, middle and high school) then you should have that first MMR and the record should be somewhere. But to answer your question, yes you need 2.
