Broward College Acceptance

Published

hey to all,

right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

I missed a call yesterday from BCC, today I checked my status is says Im on the ALTERNATE list.

Has this happened to anyone? What was the reason for them calling me..(I hope to say that youve been granted a seat). Is there hope?

Has anyone been placed on the ALT list and got accepted?

2bnurse, is this for the May/Summer semester at North? I think that they accepted 100 people and yes their is hope. There will be a few students who will decline for whatever reason i.e financial, work, leaving etc so show up for the orientation this Friday. You never know.

What was your gpa and points?

Yes it was for May. I had 7pts

Oh man, thats good news. I mean, didn't they tell you that you were not accepted, and now they are saying you're an alternate? Thats gotta be something! Keep us posted

Of course that good news, Im trying not to get too excited..but I am.

I just spoke to her and she says im next in line if someone falls out. She says for me to come to the meeting on Friday at 9.

Now what lie am i gonna tell my employer now so that I can attend on Friday...this is such short notice....any suggestions plz

Question to whom got accepted how long is that meeting, and what building is it being held?

Thats great news!!! remembert 2B I was originally not accepted to pbcc and then someone dropped there seat and I got in.... So keep your head up there is definetly hope, I will pray for ya!!!!

cant u just call in sick

Yes mystical i remembered, I am so hoping for the same luck. Thanks for the prayers.

Calling in sick in not a good idea they jusy laid of 5 ppl last week and we are short staff. But do or die i have to find a way to attend the orientation.

Can someone tell me how long the orientaion is, what do i need to bring with me?

maybe i can tell tell im coming in late. they would rather hear that than i miss the entire day. If im absent they act like they cant do nothing without me.

Let me call my sister. She was accepted and started last month. My other sis will be there on Friday as well and 2 of her coworkers who were not accepted also got the alternate status. One of them gpa was either 2.98 or 3.1 but she did not have micro- just the lab. Have you taken Micro yet? Ifyou do, that bodes well for you. I know that she said to take snacks, bottle water, sandwhich, protein bar and or fruits. Take a notebook to write notes etc.

She mentioned that the ones who didn't attend, lost there seats. Some of the alternates did get spots and they asked for people who wanted to defer and about 4-6 people did. She's not sure if the defer thing will apply for this May class as this is North and she went to South's program but it was at the Davie campus. It is suppose to last for 3hrs but she said that you all may come out earlier as there are less students than there was for the January start date class. Her orientation lasted between 3-4hrs because folks had a lot of questions.

Thx for checking NEWgoal. I didnt know that if you miss orientation day you lost your seat? wow

I have micro done already, Im in pharm now at PBCC (got an exam 2moro) wish me luck. thanks for checking with your sis, and any other info would be great

Good luck. I wish you well and I am sending positive thoughts your way. PErhaps, you can tell your employer that you have an important appointment that just openned up that you would like to keep as if you miss it, it will be months before you get another one(which is technicall true). I would keep it vague and most people will believe that it is a medical appointment. You should be back by 1 at thelatest so maybe you can make it a half day and offer to make up the difference.

Regarding Pharm, you are smart for taking this class as it will be one less class for you to worry about when you are in the program. Of the 3 girls that my sister hangs with, 1 failed Process 1 and she and the other ones passed. Work on health assessment.

Good luck.

New Goal-

Oh wow....you just said the magic word, lol. I have been trying to find out if they allow deferrals. So I guess if they ask at the orientation if anyone wants to defer, that means they do!!! LOL

2b-

would you keep your ears open at the orientation for any mention of deferrals - if they even mention it. I guess what I want to know is what the rules of deferring a seat are, stuff like that. If you hear someone bring it up, can you relay the info to me? I'm thinking about applying for August at the end of this semester, while I am still figuring out if I can actually start in August or if I need to wait until Jan. Then if I get accepted, I will know if I can take the spot or or not.
