hey to all,
right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah:
:yeah:
I got in for May I had 12 pts and I also had other classes to help. Im extremely nervous. I didnt really think there was much shot of getting in, and I did and now it seems like its sooo close away. Any tips.. And congrats to the other people that got in.. I think we will be seeing alot of each other
Congrats Sassygirl! my sis will be starting in May as well. She just got her email re the orientation next Friday, today.
My other sis who is in the program at South said if you can, get the Perry & Potter book and read up on health assessments. She said that the chapter is about 100 pages and this is the area where people had difficultiy. She also said if you could find someone to show you how to do it or practice with it would be good as well. In addition, she said to get the pharmacy/math book at the book store- it is under $7 and to start praticing dosage calc etc. Several students failed this class and they had to rush and open up another segment for them to retake it as you can not start clinicals if you don't pass math and you can only get 1 wrong on the test.
Good luck and be prepared for your life to change.
Congrats to everyone who got in! :monkeydance:
I'm accepted into the transition program that starts in May. A few people in my Microbiology class got accepted, as well. But they are starting the generic class and their pre-admission session date is before mine.
So, does anyone know which class the LPNs "mesh" with? Is it the January class that just started, or the May one that's coming up? How does that work? And as far as the short break that was mentioned for summer, does anyone happen to know how long is it and when it would be?
Also, I just want to thank everyone (sunray, bumblebee, leavingteaching, bmlex, etc) who gave me advice and resources over the past few months. I'm not sure I would have gotten everything together as quickly as I did, without your help. This site is a lifesaver!
I don't know exactly since I'm not in the program, but from what I understand the LPN transition program basically is the same as the traditional except for having to take Nursing Process 1 and 2. So that would put you in at the traditional program's second semester, which would mean you were joining January '09's track. However, I did look at the program info sheet, and it says the first half of the semester you take Transition Nursing 1 and THEN you take Health Alterations 1 (which is GI/GU) during the second half. I believe the Jan class take GI/GU the first half of the semester and then have the other half of the summer off. So, all that to say I have no idea, lol.
I'm sure Leavingteaching will be around soon to answer this better. I think I may be close, lol.
Congrats again!

Anytime hun! Also, congrats to all as well. I know two people we didn't get in and they had more points than me, go figure. I received my orientation email today and the date is set for Feb. 23rd, Friday. I am so scared :sofahider, I try not to think about it too hard, but what can I say, I keep telling myself failure isn't :nono: an option. Sorry ladies and gents, just venting .
BMLEX010-
I just realized you said your orientation is for Friday the 23rd. But Friday is the 20th and Monday is the 23rd!! I don't want you to miss it!
Anyway, good luck. I'm pretty sure most people are scared going in because you don't know what to expect, you know its going to take a lot of hard work, and you hear the horror stories go around. But its good that you have the mindset that failure is NOT an option. It's not, and as long as you're thinking that way, you will work VERY hard. I can't wait until its my turn to be scared :)

Hi, are you applying for August? I am, now, they told me that they'll be taking applications starting March 1st, but that's spring break, do you know if they 're going to be open?

I am thinking of taking this class online. I am a student at HCC in Tampa and I would like to know, is this class offered in the fall and spring online? and does it fill up quickly?
Thanks.
