They have to have clinicals or the NYS BON won't let their students graduate.

There's almost no information on their website, just a mention that the program exists and a link to the pre-admission testing site. I find that vaguely concerning, but that's just me and my internet-dependent self.

Ah thanks, I'm going to give them call this week and find out more information. Just wanted some feedback on it...

I tested for the program: The tests start in february and end in May or June....you must score at a certain percentage in order to progress to the next level, which is taking another exam...(TEAS, or something like that)...after that you are interviewed and they select a certain number of people to train to be an LPN. I have heard of people who went through the program and liked it....I scored well on the first exam and was contacted to take the second exam, but decided to attend a university for my BSN instead

Did anyone attend this school, or know any info. about their LPN program?
It's more convenient for me to attend this school, and was hoping it was a good school. I think its free or at least cheaper than most schools out there. So i was wondering if they had clinicals, and were thorough with material, and so on...?
Well, any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

I was suppose to take this test but missed the date. I have the study materials . I heard the test was hard and the program is not all that great. ($60 for the materials went down the drain). However for $2000 a year, I guess you really couldn't ask for a lot. However, I am not one that likes to believe what others say sometimes. I do know someone who graduated from the program. I haven't seen him to ask how it went. I did hear however that you are pretty much "on your own" so maybe the "no teacher" thing is true. You will have to call in December for the application forms. It's a shame if it's unorganized though because I think this is the only program in Brooklyn. Please try other schools as well and best of luck.

Nah, the test wasn't hard at all...basic math, readings skills and grammar skills...

I'm not entirely sure how many students they take in...and ALOT of people take the exam....I was one of the first test takers in February and the number of people who tested with me that day filled a high school cafeteria...then we got divided into groups and tested in different classrooms

I just graduated from BALC in June 07'. It's a good program, just very disorganized. I went to the full-time program which is very intense. It is Monday-Friday 9am-4pm, so you definitely have to be dedicated and have support at home because it is almost impossible to work during the week while going to school and they are very strict with attendance. Although there were some people who worked nights and I myself worked the weekends, I wouldn't recommend it. The program itself consists of three semesters. The first one starts in September a few days after labor day and runs until right before Christmas. That's when you'll take most of your "theory" courses like Body structure, Nutrition, Medical terminology, etc. The second semester runs from January to mid April and that's when you'll start clinicals and start more of the actually nsg courses like pharm & med surg. How it works is they actually break up the student body into two groups and every two weeks we would alternate meaning one group would be in clinicals while the other group would be in school taking courses. Then the third semester runs from April to June and that's when we finish up our clinicals and we take peds our maternity courses. The total cost of the program was only about $1900 and that includes everything from books, to uniforms for clinicals, our nsg supplies like our stethoscope & scissors, and the $50 we had to pay for the CPR course.

Ah thank u for all the information Platinum, i greatly appreciate it lol. I wanted to go there because of the location and price, sad to hear they're disorganized tho. But since you graduated and everything, did u feel well prepared for the nclex pn...?

and i was just wondering how the admission process was...?
