Brookhaven Nursing Fall 2015

Published

Hi!

I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!

I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!

I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!

I was wondering if any of you ladies already have your associates? Or rather, can you apply having already gotten your associates degree?

I am within 12 credits of my associates of science degree, but I didnt go for it becuase I was worried it would affect me applying for the nursing program and/or transfering to UTA for BSN.

Anyone know about this?

I have an associate of science.. I don't see why it would interfere. Your ADN will be a completely different associate degree.. so while you would have 2 associate degrees, the ADN is what would count toward transferring to an RN-BSN program I would imagine. At least, that's what I am assuming because it is what I plan to do. :)

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I didnt knok you could receive 2 associates degrees from the same school or even at all. I will go speak with an advisor today before class. I have been working hard in school being a full time mom and the thought of celebrating with a degree sounds great before moving onto nursing!

Definitely check with an advisor (and let me know what they say :)) My AS is from El Centro.. when I had the BH nursing office go over my credits, etc etc, they never mentioned it being an issue. I imagine you can get as many degrees as you want from a school as long as you are paying for classes! I could be wrong though!

I have a stupid question. Do you have to dress up for the interview? I really hope the interview is not so formal...

You are interviewing for a chance at your future career. Do you think you should dress as if it were a job interview?....

The answer is yes.

I was just saying that because I normally get super nervous when it comes to formal setting.. just so you know that Im not really stupid..

Hey crossfitnurse! Thanks for stopping by! Are you also applying to BH for fall '15?

Oxygenbug, I would definitely say to dress in business attire (ie: slacks, a modest top). I wouldn't say you have to dress formally, but you should definitely take it up a notch or two from normal. I will likely wear slacks and a blazer and flat shoes (because lord knows I'm terrible in heels, especially when nervous!) and keep my hair and makeup low key but polished. They say the better you look, the better you feel.. and I will take all extra boosts of confidence I can get if I am awarded an interview :)

I knew what you meant Oxygenbug ;) It sounds like (from the other people who have gone through the interview process) while yes, it's an interview and it is intimidating, that the panel also takes into consideration that we are nervous. Just put on your Sunday best and be yourself.. every single person will be nervous, I can promise you that!

I am getting excited mixed with nervousnes

Me too!!! I wonder if we will hear Friday!

Well, I emailed Nancy because I just couldn't help myself and she confirmed to me too that we will be getting interview emails Friday. AHHHHHHH!!!:wideyed::nailbiting::woot::notworthy::cool::up::nurse:

Have to work next 3 days (12 hours shift - ugh!) But wanted to wish everyone a huge GOOD LUCK!!!! If your heart is in the right place then it will all work wonderfully! Just remember to take a second to gather your thoughts and breathe. As eelittle said, everyone is nervous, even those of us who have done it before.

Let's just say we all get in, what is everyone doing this Summer? Being a condensed program I am sure the 16 months will be crazy packed. So we should all enjoy this summer while we can.
