Brookhaven Nursing Fall 2015

Published

Hi!

I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!

I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!

I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!

I emailed and asked Nancy and she said interview invitations will go out next Friday, eek!

yay! thank you for letting us know! If I do get an interview, I am a little prepared because I had interview last time. I was an alternate

If I drive elittle it is about 7-8 hrs .... I have travel benefits on American Airlines so I will certainly be trying to fly into DFW from Corpus Christi! Did you recalculate your points????

I am glad you have the option to fly..that is a trek! I did. And, they are right! Apparently we both gave the extra classes more than the one point they deserved. UGH oh well!!

Are you comfortable giving us a little hint into what the interview is like? I am trying to prepare but I don't know how!

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

Thank you!! That makes me feel better :)

I'm right there with you! But like everyone says, we never know!! Fingers crossed for both of us :)

5 applicants goes to the room to do the writing. You have to write your answer in 10 minutes .Questions are like nursing student related, I don't remember exactly the written essay I did because I was really nervous. They check your grammar, writing accuracy etc.

Then after that you go to the room with 3 nursing panel to do the verbal interview.

I was very nervous but I remember my questions are" Why you want to be a nurse" and tell me the time you accomplished a goal and how did you do it.

It is mostly behavioral questions. I believe I didn't do well in writing part because I swear my hands were sweating I was very nervous so my paragraph are messed up and I have erased words so my paper looks messy.Lol

They accept 60 students for Fall and 40 students in spring.

I got my email. 21.67 If the average for interviews is 24, that leaves me out...super bummed.

However, that is based on previous point system but now that they changed it, the points went down. So I think 20 points can get an interview?!

I have 21.7 points. The new point system took my points down, but I am hopeful.

When you say nursing panel you're talking about 3 of the faculty members???

HI, I have been hovering around here for quite a while and thought it was time I joined you all. Seems like a great group of soon to be RN's. I was also an alternate Spring 15 for Brookhaven, I had 26.31 points and now I am applying with 24.31. They actually told me that no one with less than my score was admitted, but I think the whole system has changed so much this time that anyone of you (and hopefully me :)) could make it in.

To answer the question about the nursing panel, yes it is 3 faculty members. Probably Barb will be one of them. They were all really cool and knew we were nervous. The whole process went very quickly but every one was able to take a minute to breathe and answer the questions. Don't sweat it, at this point it's all just a game of numbers. They should be calling everyone first of the week after the 27th to start setting up interviews. They usually give you a couple different options because they know we all work. My main advice would be to get there early. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hi! Glad you joined us too! That's really good info, thank you for telling us all of that! I am so anxious... It's all I've been thinking about.. So much that I've been dreaming about it too!! My fingers are crossed for not just me but all of you too!

I was wondering if any of you ladies already have your associates? Or rather, can you apply having already gotten your associates degree?

I am within 12 credits of my associates of science degree, but I didnt go for it becuase I was worried it would affect me applying for the nursing program and/or transfering to UTA for BSN.

Anyone know about this?
