Hi!
I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!
I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!
I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!
Have to work next 3 days (12 hours shift - ugh!) But wanted to wish everyone a huge GOOD LUCK!!!! If your heart is in the right place then it will all work wonderfully! Just remember to take a second to gather your thoughts and breathe. As eelittle said, everyone is nervous, even those of us who have done it before.Let's just say we all get in, what is everyone doing this Summer? Being a condensed program I am sure the 16 months will be crazy packed. So we should all enjoy this summer while we can.
I love that advice!!! Good luck to you too!! I plan to get all of my traveling and family visiting and easy bucket list items out of the way this summer so I have no regrets and can buckle down and focus once I get into the program! I hope we all get in!!
PS: Where do you work?! At least you have 12 hour shift experience :)
That's one of the main reasons I got my CNA and went after this job. I am a CNA in a hospital rehab floor, but they float me to all the other floors about 40% of the time. If our numbers are low, I will go to tele-onc or PCU, or anywhere actually. I wanted all the experience I could get before I went into clinicals and the whole world of nursing school. I have learned so much - I love the hospital atmosphere - love my patients - they are what keeps me going when things get ugly. I'm older (probably the oldest in our class - how do you like that I am already saying we have a class? :))) I am going to be 50 next month, and am kicking myself for not doing this when I was younger. But life experiences count for so much in really tough situations.
My youngest is 13, so I don't have the day care issues but I am going to try to keep working part time and still have some semblance of a family life. Of course, no social life lol that went out the window when I started the prerequisites.
I sooo wish I would have gotten my CNA to get experience, but to also be able to find a job once nursing school starts! I suppose I will just have to wait to finish my first semester of nursing clinicals in order to be able to apply for PCT jobs, as it is too late to start a CNA program! I can't seem to find any jobs in a hospital setting, I have looked so hard! Do you have any advice on how to become a unit secretary or anything of the sort? You definitely made the right choice with your direction, soreadytobern! I love that you are saying we have a class.. it would be so great to have all of us together! I'll bet I am the second oldest in our class.. or close. I will be 32 this year :) I too wish I would have done this when I was younger
Oh shoot, I just looked the BH preschool up again! I didn't realize it is Head Start. Darn, we won't qualify either. Oh joy... I would love to find a babysitter/nanny to watch several of our kids and split costs haha. I know it will work out one way or the other, but it is one more thing to try to work out!
So, is anyone else wondering what time we might find out tomorrow or is it just me because I am slightly neurotic? :)Also, do they send emails either way, like yes we would like to interview you or no not this time?
The suspense is killin' me!
Good luck ya'll:up:
The email should say that you are invited for an interview; and then it will include the date of interview and phone number to call.
Another email will say that they regret you are not invited for an interview.

I got the email for interview last semester around 1 pm!

Gah, we are so close to finding out! I'm excited for everybody! Also, any of ya'll have little kids? If you do, have you thought about what you are going to do with them during classes? I have a couple options (like BH's early childhood development center/daycare) but was curious what any of you might be planning on doing if you're in the same situation.
