Hi!

I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!

I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!

I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!

Hey yall!! If anyone here plans on taking Microbiology Online at DCCCD or UTA for the nursing prereqs, or to get micro out of the way before your program starts, or to get more points towards your nursing application, I have a microscope and brand new labpaq that I am willing to sell to you for less than what just the labpaq costs!! Let me know if you or anyone you know could benefit from this!! :)

I didn't know they offered micro online!! How was it? Would you say it was easier than taking it in person on campus?

Thank you! This is great news! I've taken it twice, once at TWU (super hard) and another at Collin college, both times didn't do so well. Which dcccd campus did you take it at and do you recommended any specific professors?

Hello all,

I see you all have discussed some about Success Camp for Brookhaven's program. I was just wondering how far after the acceptance date does success camp usually occur? For example if Nov.17 were acceptance dates and Nov.25 were deadline dates. How far after could Success camp be? I'm asking cause I had a trip planned that I hadn't considered to be in the way, but now I may have to cancel.

Our success camp was August 24 and 25th, we were notified in late April. But we are a Fall beginning class, I assume you are a Spring beginning. I would think yours will be January 18-19 ish?? The instructors are on break the same time we are, so I wouldn't think it would be any earlier than the beginning of semester. Nancy at Brookhaven is a wealth of information and really cool. Hopefully that won't interfere with your vacation plans - if you get accepted - enjoy your break - you are gonna need to be rested up for what's ahead of you :)))) Good Luck!!

Hi guys, I'm interviewing for the Spring 2016 class in a couple weeks :nailbiting: any advice???

also, If accepted, is there any way to get a head start on textbooks? Im totally fine with used and abused books if I will save some $$$ :up: Is the textbook list something we can get in advance or do they do that at success camp?

What is everyone's thought about the BHC that have already started the program? I am applying for Fall 2016 as well as ECC. Having a harrd time choosing....

I wish there was a way to figure out what is competitive.. All I know is that 40 is the highest you can get (all As in prereqs, 100% on HESI, completing all 5 additional core courses with A's on the three that have a point value associated with letter grade)... but I can't even begin to figure out what competitive would be. I want to email and ask but I am not sure she would even respond!

Curious, which 5 additional core courses are you speaking of? I'm pre-nursing student will be at BHC in the fall and trying to get insight on as many classes I can take to improve me points and chance of getting in the program. Thanks!

Rbea10 I'm applying for the 2017 Spring program at BHC. The supporting courses eelittle is referring to are: AP2, Micro, Pharma (these can be worth up to 3pts each); ethics and pathophysiology are each worth 1 point. So the max points you can receive from these courses is 11.

I took Prof Slone's online micro class.....I got an A, I'm not even sure how LOL....so it must have been a pretty do-able course :) Check 'rate my professor' for more insight on the instructors/class before you sign up!
