Hey everyone,
I just wanted to get a thread started for all of the BHC/MVC students; please help me get a support system going here. I am starting at BHC in Jan. 07 and would love to make contact with the other new students. It would also be great if the current students would join in too, maybe share some advise;) /horror stories.:uhoh21: I'm sure that you current students have a lot to say.
El Centro/Northlake has a couple of really good threads going, but it would sure be great to talk with those I will be going to school with too.
Good Luck to everyone!
I see you 3rd and 4th semester and wonder if I will EVER get there. I started this week, and it seems like so much. There is information being thrown at us from every direction. The reading, the articles, the videos, the lectures, and it's only my second day and I want to crawl in bed and stay there. Does it get better?

Yes, once you get into the flow of things it should calm down. I thought that the first semester was the most stressful because of all of the check-offs. I would always get really worked up over them and that was unnecessary stress. Just be sure to practice in open lab. It really helps!
It will be kind of hectic for a while, but once you figure out what the heck you are doing it gets much better!
And as for those articles and videos, I don't know anybody that actually did those. I think the videos on the cd roms are helpful, but I can't say a whole lot about the other ones. Nobody read the articles that I know of. I'm pretty sure it wasn't required.

Take a deep breath. Make time for yourself even if you do not think you have the time. It helps if you keep your the stress level down. It all can be done and you will be finished before you know it. Good Luck.

Once you get into a rhythm it will calm down. 1st semester is always hard because you are new to the whole nursing school thing. Soon you will learn to organize you time, and will get a feel for what to focus on, and what is not as essential. Like was already said, the articles and videos, at first I would watch and read them all, but after a few weeks I realized I could get by fine without them. Of course if you need the extra help they are great to have, you just need to get a feel for your learning style. Hang in there! It will be over before you know it, trust me!!! :icon_hug:
I got a job at UT southwestern on a Telemetry floor. I am looking forward to it. I really enjoyed the 2 semesters I had on telemetry, and it is a good stepping stone should I someday wish to try ICU.
congratulation kalmeira,
I have been peeking in on this thread sometimes. I went to El Centro and feel somehow connected to you all, since it is Dallas County CC. I graduated in May and work now on L&D at Charlton Methodist.
It is interesting to see how your schedule was somewhat different than ours and you also had different courses I believe. I know that brookhaven and El Centro used to be connected at one time and then went seperate ways.
I have sometimes people ask me how Mountanviews program is, so that's why I was interested in reading your thread.
Good luck to everyone

Yes I could not get in to take it before I started work and I knew that I could not take it the first two weeks of work. I was told that they would work around me taking it after that so I will schedule it as soon as possible.
I will be working at Big Baylor in NICU. I was very happy that is where I wanted to go.
