Nursing Students General Students

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to get a thread started for all of the BHC/MVC students; please help me get a support system going here. I am starting at BHC in Jan. 07 and would love to make contact with the other new students. It would also be great if the current students would join in too, maybe share some advise;) /horror stories.:uhoh21: I'm sure that you current students have a lot to say.

El Centro/Northlake has a couple of really good threads going, but it would sure be great to talk with those I will be going to school with too.

Good Luck to everyone!

I just wanted to say "CONGRATS" to all of you who reached this great milestone...I can't wait 'til it's my turn to get there, wish me luck...

:yeah:

I have a question...Can anyone help me please?

I am submitting my nursing packet but I am confused about the physical/immunization form. Do I have to include that in the packet because it says that in success camp you have to provide it? Also, I received my transcript from DCCCD and it says to submit that but the envelope says not to open, do I include it in my packet envelope closed? If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!!! :thankya:

Keep the transcript in the envelope. Once you have the packet complete take it to Ann Cortez do this before the dead line. She will go thru the packet with you before you turn it in to make sure that you have everything complete in it. We did not have to turn in the physical/immunization form until success camp but they may have changed that. I know that other nursing school want it with the applications because you have to be done with all of the shots before you can do clinicals. Ann is wonderful and will be the best resorce that you can have during Nursing School. Remeber that everone goes to her and she is the first contact that we have :saint: so be nice to her.

Good Luck!

The physical/immunization information doesn't need to be included in your application. When I turned in my application she (Ann Cortez) told me that they will give you enough time during success camp to get everything done. Get those shots early though! :-)

I think you can wait on the immunization stuff until Success Camp. Not wait to have everything done, but wait to turn it in. We turned ours in at Success Camp.

And yes, leave your transcript unopened in your application folder packet.

If you open it, it will be invalid.

Also, if you haven't had a tetorifice shot in the past 2 years then you might want to go ahead and have a Tdap with the rest of your immunizations because it is required for your pediatric clinical.

just wanted to take a moment and tell all the new applicants...

good luck!

bh is a wonderful program. now with that being said i want you to realize that there will be many times that changes take place at the very last moment, be patient, i just want you to know up front. there are many people involved in scheduling; clincals for example, the hospitals have to say "yes", then they have to staff accordingly, and then they may have a problem, and then it becomes your problem...get it? but don't be discouraged, all programs have their own set of issues, bh does a very good job at what they do and have a wonderful success rate.

if you have any questions feel free to post them here on this thread. there are several past students that still sign on and give advise and answer questions. you are not alone! you will feel like it at times, but your not if you just speak up.

so take a deep breath, hang on, and have fun!

Do any first semester students want to buy my OB book? Send me a message if you do.

Just a few questions about applying to Brookhaven/Mountain View... I plan to attend the infor session this month, but am anxious about a few things.

1) Does anyone know when the next deadline is to turn in applications and will it be for the Fall 09 entrance date?

2) Do I count my gpa in my points for admission - say a 3.0 counts 3 points? Is that how it works?

3) What do you suggest about taking Patho or Pharm first? Which one is more difficult?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!:specs:

I think next application period is in February and yes it is for Fall 09. As for the 2nd question the answer is yes. 3rd, I took Patho before Pharm and personally it helped me to take Patho before Pharm, but that's just me, but some people take it at the same time. It just depends on your schedule and if have a lot time to devote to studying. It's up to each person, really. I'm currently taking Pharm and I'm glad I decided to take it on its own because it's a handful. Don't be anxious, everything will be fine :wink2:! I submitted my app this past week and we'll see. Wish you the best of luck!
