Brookhaven Fall 2019

Published

Anyone applying for Fall 2019? I know it seems far away, but the application is due the end of Feb. It is best we begin to prepare now, especially those who need immunizations.

I need:

Critical thinking exam.

Retake Hesi for a higher competitive score.

Dosage calculations workshop.

I'm taking Chem 1405 and Phil 2306 this fall and Pharma in winter.

If I read it all correctly, the dual enrollment with TT lets you take two BSN classes online through the Texas Tech El Paso nursing school while you're working on your RN...then you get automatic acceptance to finish your BSN. And the articulation agreements is where you fill out the application, have TT review your transcript, fill out a declaration of intent form, and if you satisfy the GPA requirement you get automatic acceptance into their RN-BSN program. I might be totally wrong and if someone knows otherwise, please correct me.

To enroll in Dual enrollment, what is the first step? Fill out a college application with TT?

I haven't spoken with an advisor for an official response, but I intend to speak with one next week. I know the tuition fees are ~ $2600.

Hello everyone! I just left Brookhaven. I spoke with someone in person that handles the nursing applications. I told her I made a 90% overall on the HESI back in January. When I told her that I’m scheduled to take it again next week, she was puzzled as to why. Of course I told her I wanted a better score because if I submit my application I will only have 24 points. She said that’s pretty good and a 90% is great. She said she recommends a 90% or better to get it. She also stated they take about 100 students in fall. So my chances of getting in are greater. With that information and the possibility of people not passing dosage cal with a 90% or better to even submit their application, not passing HESI, or giving up there spot is also a great chance as well.

i need your help though. She told me if I take the HESI next week and make less than a 90%, I have to turn that score in. So do I take the risk or just throw away $40 that I paid for the Hesi test? What do you all think? Turn in my application with 24 points or retake the hesi and improve my 90% score?

You are in a far better position than I am in. I will be applying with a total score of 20.01, just north of the threshold. I have taken the HESI a total of 2 times. I improved my math and AP, however my grammar remained the same, and my reading comprehension fell 2%. I did spend most of my time studying the conversions (math) and AP though. Best of luck in whatever you decide, but you have at least one applicant beat. ?

Glad to hear about the 100 student estimate.

Thank you! She also stated they accept 60 students in Fall. I went to the dosage Calculation workshop twice. It was well over 100 students. The second time I had to take it to get 90 or above, it was some of the same students in there. Seeing about 100 students made me nervous because that means all of the students plan to apply to the program since it’s mandatory to apply. But then again, some of those people won’t pass the dosage portion to even apply.

Hey everyone, I did some investigating to see about how many are applying for Fall. We all know that you must make a 90 or above on the dosage calculation exam to even apply. So I searched for the course like we did when we initially signed up for the workshop. The last day to register was Feb. 9th.

According the picture, the maximum students that could sign up for the workshop was 300. It says there is 129 available. So that means 171 students signed up for the workshop which means 171 students are applying for the program. Keep in mind that not everyone passed the workshop. Also keep in mind there maybe some students who already took the exam prior and passed but didn’t get in last semester or whatever.

The 171 students from Dosage will be in varying stages of the program. Several will probably still be taking their pre-reqs, waiting on their shots, failed the HESI, etc. With the increased # of students being accepted, I will remain optimistic.

Great point! I didn’t think of that either. We got this!

I just got my last shot! I'll be applying with 32.04 points for this fall. I can't wait!

Hey you guys! If y’all don’t mind me asking, what points are you guys all applying with? Taking out the critical thinking exam docked me some points, so now I’m down to 26 points and nervous!
