Brookhaven Fall 2010 students

Published

Hi all! I thought I would start a new thread for all the people who got in Brookhaven's Fall 2010 program. I figured the people who did not get in would not want to see our posts anymore.

I did want to let you all know that I asked my friend that is first semester at Brookhaven, and she said that the scrubs they wear for clinical rounds are hunter green. They have to be embroidered on the back "brookhaven college" and the front has to have your name. Apparently there is a special order form that will be sent to us by ***. She suggests that you get 2 pairs when *** sends the order form, becasue she only got one, and she is now ordering an extra pair. She also said that she bought some other scrubs (all different colors) to wear when she is at school, because it is easier to work in. *** will e-mail us about all this but thought I would clue you in on what I know.

Anyone else got any news? LOL

Can't wait to meet you all (if I have not already):D

I just got to post again and tell everyone congrats on making it!!

I am green eyed with envy right now lol...I won't be ready to apply until August 2011 for the Spring 2012 session. I just want in already!! lol

hey im in the same boat as you :)

are you starting to take pre reqs this fall?

EDIT***

Oppss after thinking for a while Im starting to feel bad about posting my q's. I feel like im invading ya'lls thread...sorry if i stepped on any toes no harm meant

Hello, I don't know if everyone on here is on our Facebook page but we're meeting up at Midway Point 7:30 Friday (7/16). Hope to see everyone there.

Specializes in APRN, FNP-C, Newborn nursery.

@2bnurseniki11 the hospitals are kinda random. things we heard from previous semesters were not the same for us. the instuctors are also flopped around.

the lottery system works like this: everyone draws a random # at success camp. this will be your number for the whole time (although a** told me that they might make you guys draw each semester since there are so many of you). this number indicates when you get to sign up for classes. i was #1 at success camp so i got first pick to which day i wanted clinicals. the clinical is tied to specific hospital, teacher, time. so choose wisely. I picked MCP. other options were Baylor Garland, Irving. so 1-10 went first then 11-20, etc... then for second semester 11-20 first and my section was last to pick. and it will rotate again for spring for us.

for summer there was medical city dallas, MCP, baylor irving.

for fall we have Green oaks and terrell state for psych, childrens for peds and methodist, parkland for ob/maternity.

some of the professors were the same, but most are new/different.

it looks like our program really has good relationships with hospitals and we're lucky to be in the metroplex to get a lot of good exposure and experience. just be ready willing and able to learn and help in all ways possible.

good luck you guys! maybe i will see you at success camp.

Just wanted to ask if anyone else is waiting to get their scrubs until after camp? I don't know anyone that has done the nursing program at Brookhaven and have no clue about what books to buy. It was my understanding that we would be told all of this at camp is that correct? Did I really read that we are going to have a reading assignment due before class begins? It sure would be nice to have A** email us a book list so that we could get started.

Specializes in NNICU.

Holly- I talked to ann a few weeks ago and she said we could get our books from majors book store. I went and got mine so I can email you the book list if you would like. Most have got their books already but you can wait if you want. Lete know if you would like the book list. Some have bought their books separately to save money. If you buy them from majors throne you pay extra for the ebooks.

Hello everyone!

My name is Cindy and I'm new to this site...I got accepted into the fall 2010 class as well. It is so nice to know that we have a place to come, to exchange information, etc. I requested to join the group on facebook. I hope to see you all very soon. I'm just waiting until I get paid to get my scrubs and get the embroidery done.

Good luck to you all, see you all at Success Camp.

Cindy P.

Niki, could you send me the list of books via PM, so I can get started accumulating them. I am finding that Amazon is far cheaper than any of the college book stores. We may be able to find them at abebooks.com, as well.

Yeah I am starting my pre-reqs in a few weeks! I am totally excited!!

I am taking:

Chemistry

A&P1

Developmental Psych

Humanities

I am really excited for the humanities class too because it is a music appreciation class but it is special because is is based around learning how to play the piano which I already have some skills at so it will be fairly easy.

I also already have my english and psych 2301 done because I took them at another college last year.

I will PM you with my professors name :)

Yeah they told me not to double up on lab sciences too but they don't have any openings for drug calc or end of life and Chemistry is the only pre-req that was available for me to take out of the list to make sure I had at least 12 credits for financial aid. When I lived in Arizona I was taking A&P out there but dropped the class when I moved so I already know what is to be expected. It is basically just a bunch of memorizing so I think I will be fine taking both sciences together.

Hi guys, I'm planning on applying for spring 2011 and I needed some info about the entrance hesi test.Does anybody know the format and time alotted for the test? Thanks in advance
