Brookhaven College Spring 2017

Published

I am hoping to be part of the Brookhaven College Spring 2017 Nursing Class and I want to start a new thread where other potential students can communicate with one another. I am almost done with my pre-requisites. Currently I am working on getting Chemistry and Ethics out of the way. I plan on taking nursing pathophysiology this summer if it is offered.

Any one have any suggestions on how to prepare for the HESI A2? I am also interested in any advice that can help me with my dosage class. I am very nervous about the dosage course since the test must be passed with a 90%. Good luck everyone!

Didi, you'll still be able to apply.

That's good to know; thanks! I am still hoping for high scores all around so that I am able to use the scores for other programs. Best of luck to you, TerraElizabeth! I hope to see us all say we have been accepted into a program soon!

Has anyone taken the TEAS for the BSN program? I was wondering if the HESI will be easier since the HESI is for the ADN program. Please let me know what the differences are. I have taken the TEAS last month, but decided to do the ADN program first. Thanks!

I have not but I do know of some that have taken both and they say the HESI is easier.

Hi guys! I am also applying to Brookhaven for the nursing program this next spring. I have all of my points figured out and am still debating on whether or not to take the HESI again or not? Right now I have a total of 37.34 points. I got a 87.71 on my first HESI and know I have a shot of doing better on the next one because I rushed through it the first time. But I'm scared of the possibility of doing worse.. What is yall's opinion?

I'm unsure how the points system is now working but I am a current 3rd semester student in the program and when I applied last fall I applied with 30.17 points and had no issues getting accepted. With that said, if the max amount is still 40, you should have no issues getting at least an interview. As far as retaking the HESI, I retook mine and made a higher grade the second time--the test was the exact same as the first time I took it. Hope that helps!

Hi Tori- Welcome!

I'm on the same boat you're on and have also contemplated retaking the Hesi, but I think with our points we have a good chance of getting in. The minimum is now 27. When Kendra applied it was 19. She's a smart gal and was at the top of her group. ☺️ Historically applicants with 5-6 points above the minimum have been accepted. If it holds the same this time around, 32/33 points and above are on the safe side. Of course back then the CT exam was not a factor and truth be told I feel this time around, that test is the wild card since there is no way to determine what the average score will be....and that's when the anxiety kicks in for me!:nailbiting:

Hi Tori!

Your total application points are around what everyone else on this board has. I don't necessarily believe that means your score is not competitive. My opinion: Those that frequent the semesterly boards seem to have the edge on application points. There may be a positive correlation to those that over-prepare on here with program acceptance. I'd say the majority of those that have posted on here in preparation have gained acceptance on the first or second try. That's my personal observation. So, I believe that your score IS competitive, and the rest is up to you.

I have mine scheduled for 9/10. Nervous af lately. Any tips on anatomy and grammar sections? Like style of questions? Everyone I know tells me it isn't as bad but I want to make a 90 or higher.

Good luck on your HESI exam tomorrow!!

Good luck on your HESI exam tomorrow!!

Thanks a bunch. I was nervous but I gave myself two weeks because I wanted to get it done with instead of stressing. Will let y'all know how it goes.

I'm sure you'll do great! Best part is the results are instantaneous! No waiting like the DC test :)

For anyone who has taken the Critical Thinking exam; what is it like?

Confusing! Ha! It's 50 questions on different scenarios that would occur in a clinical setting. Many are ethical scenarios and others are questions in which require to use your critical thinking skills. Honestly, I think if you work in a clinical setting as an LVN, CNA or MA, you may have an upper hand on the exam. You have 2 hrs to complete. It took me about 1hr 25min and some of them I reread several times...and stared... í ½í¸œ

Best of luck on yours!
