I am hoping to be part of the Brookhaven College Spring 2017 Nursing Class and I want to start a new thread where other potential students can communicate with one another. I am almost done with my pre-requisites. Currently I am working on getting Chemistry and Ethics out of the way. I plan on taking nursing pathophysiology this summer if it is offered.
Any one have any suggestions on how to prepare for the HESI A2? I am also interested in any advice that can help me with my dosage class. I am very nervous about the dosage course since the test must be passed with a 90%. Good luck everyone!
I wouldn't say hard but more that I did not study what was asked on my test. I had questions on ossification for example which I never looked into. Lots of things I've read was that it was not too detailed. Some questions however were detailed. Almost like there was 5 -10 intentionally harder questions AP2 based where as the rest of the questions where pretty simple. Just so you know I got plenty of questions on bones, couple on brain, meiosis, sweat glands, and blood related. Good luck.
I've attempted studying what all I could remember from the section last year when I took it. Hopefully I will do good on it. And thanks! Hopefully I'll be updating you guys later this evening with my scores. (:
Transcript pre-evaluation. Please contact the nursing office for the forms and procedures at Brookhaven College.
Coursework taken outside of the DCCCD must be evaluated. Course substitutions are required for all courses not matching our curriculum plan. This includes courses taken at other DCCCD campuses.
Wondering if anyone has done this ^^. If so, how did you? I'm afraid I may have not gone about it the correct way, and I really would hate that because it's past the deadline to even have it completed.
Hi Didi- this would apply if you took any of the pre-reqs or supporting courses outside of Dcccd. Or, if you took a prereq or supporting class at a dcccd that does not match the course name/#. If none of that applies to you then you're good. If it does you will want to go ahead and contact an advisor, even if it's past the deadline. Hopefully they can still review.

This is what I was worried about but when I called about my outside coursework they told me it shouldn't be an issue because of how close the schools were and was mainly for out of state or distant course work.

Thank you, Luna! I was worried at first whether it mattered. I remember when I first thought of applying for El Centro Radiology program, I was told my courses were okay so I assumed they would be here as well. I am core complete as well as having an Associate of Science from a previous junior college and assumed the classes were accepted regardless. I will double check with an advisor just make sure, though.

That's what I first thought when I initially saw it. That it was for courses taken outside of the state lines and/or country. But I will definitely double check.
Didn't do as well as I hoped on my HESI, but it wasn't too bad either. Anatomy of course was my worst, however, making a 96 on the math portion helped me in a major way. My cumulative was 84.4%. I am going to try and retest if I can find an opening at an approved center, but if not at least I know I'll still be able to apply with what I have. Hopefully it's good enough to get in if I am not able to retake. My last and final step is to take the critical thinking exam which I plan on doing next week! Again, I wish you all the best of luck and hope to be along side you guys come January! :)

I believe you can only take it once for this application period. So best to retest after you know about this semester. Def take critical thinking and turn in application as is. Best of luck!
Side question.. Anyone know hours to turn in applications? I think I read 8-3pm m-f but wasn't sure.

You're correct! I will just have to apply with what I have then and hope to get in! And yes, I saw the same 8-3 as well. And the last day to turn in would be the last business day in September.

I believe as long as BHC has your transcripts that's all that was needed. That's what I understood, anyway. Mark Meyer is the dean of nursing; I would advise asking him for confirmation. He responds very quickly when I have questions for him.
