Brookhaven College Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I am hoping to be part of the Brookhaven College Spring 2017 Nursing Class and I want to start a new thread where other potential students can communicate with one another. I am almost done with my pre-requisites. Currently I am working on getting Chemistry and Ethics out of the way. I plan on taking nursing pathophysiology this summer if it is offered.

Any one have any suggestions on how to prepare for the HESI A2? I am also interested in any advice that can help me with my dosage class. I am very nervous about the dosage course since the test must be passed with a 90%. Good luck everyone!

Hello! I am also looking into applying for spring 18 and I am just wondering about the titers and immunizations. If I test positive on the Hep B, MMR, etc, is that proof I do not need to go forward in obtaining said vaccinations? Lastly, I registered to take Pharmacology in the fall here at Brookhaven, but I have heard several negative things about the professor. Any feedback? Thank you!

If it's not to late you may can look at other Pharm professors for DCCCD. I took mine with one from El Centro, (I'll look it up when I get home and let you know). But all she had us do was "NCLEX" practice quizzes for grades and if you got so many points you received an A, B, or C. It was pretty simple. I took it for wintermester. If you take it during the fall or spring I'm sure it would be more to it than those quizzes. It's not necessary to take it from BHC. If it's from another school within DCCCD it'll easily transfer over and be accepted. Best of luck! Brookhaven is my next option if I'm not accepted at Mountain View. I interviewed with them Wednesday and should find out within the new few weeks if I'm accepted or not.

As long as you have your titers that prove that you're immune to those diseases, then you can take those to the Brookhaven college nurse in the S building and she can confirm them for you.

As far as pharmacology goes, the instructor that teaches at Brookhaven is the same instructor that will be your first semester lecture instructor (unless something changes); with that said, I suggest taking pharmacology in a lecture setting because the medications will come up in your practice for years to come and I have had many of my classmates tell me that they wish they would've taken it in person rather than online and wished they would've paid more attention. I enjoyed my pharm class at Brookhaven, so I'd suggest to form your own opinion if you choose to take it. Best of luck!

That is actually good information to know. I might as well take it there as that is the program that I am most interested in! I just wanted to see other people's opinion that are actually in the program. I appreciate your help!

Yes! I was actually looking at taking an online class at Mountain View! However, it might be better as Kendra said to sit in a lecture setting as the instructor also teaches other classes in Brookhaven, which is where I am hoping to get accepted! I appreciate your help!

Absolutely! You can also create a thread on here for the Spring 2018 class (if there isn't one already) if you'd like so that you can communicate with others who will also be applying for spring admission.

The classes aren't required. You only go to take the exam. You have three appempts, but if you pass it with a 90% the first time - you're totally done - no more attentence is necessary.

Hey y'all, I followed this thread as I hoped to apply with y'all but couldn't -thanks to my titer! Anyways, In case I wasn't the only one who didn't apply or if there's some who didn't get in.. here's a thread I started for the applicatnts for Spring 2018.

Hi, I made a thread for Spring 2018 applicants: https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/brookhaven-nursing-applicants-1106759.html#post9480797 Now, the DC exam is virtually identical to the practice tests posted on blackboard. The proff posts two exams, I'd suggest you work through both of them. If you do that, you'll be well prepped for the exam and should have no problem scoring a 90.
