Britney demanding background checks for her L&D nurses..

Updated:   Published

hey guys!

I know this is a short one, but I read it on imdb.com today that she is demanding background checks for the nurses helping her delivery. First Kylie Minogue, and now this. man, I've always hated celebrities.

pregnant pop star Britney Spears is planning to a luxurious labor when she gives birth to her first child in three months time. the singer has reserved a plush room in a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as all adjacent rooms to ensure her moans and groans cannot be heard by nosy passers-by. a source tells star magazine, "Britney wants white and yellow roses in the room when she gets there. Britney wants all the nurses serving her to be given background checks."

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

That's money for ya. So she's reserving all the adjacent rooms as well, how nice. She might as well reserved the entire place :chuckle

Wonder if by having the background checks done, she will be unsured a better labor, or a pain free at that one.

We will have to see :p

Given what happen to David Letterman who had an employee planning to kidnap his son .............well celebrities should be sure that the people who are going to be around do not have problems .........not to say Britney may have behaviors her self that make you wonder but since I do not know her personally I will not judge her for that but regarding our children if you are in the spot light best to be safe than sorry not that background checks can stop a person who has bad intentions to start with but still best to at least try to minimize the risk................I do not think I would take offense to that.........I worked for a hospital who really did a lot of background checks on employee............maybe cause they served the prison next door ..........but was the first place I ever worked at that really checked out the employee out with drug checks finger printing background checks the whole nine yards and I was just going to be part time..........also had the most thorough physical exam ever not even my doctor did such a complete check .........only thing missing was a cavity check lol...........oh well good luck to Britney hope she has a healthy baby and really works hard at being a good mommy.............

Specializes in cardiac ICU.

All the nurses serving her? Star magazine, for the truly lost.

Specializes in LDRP.

yeah, the nurses serving her. hilarious. Maybe they'll be serving ice chips made from bottled water only.

Won't her ice chips have to be made from Kabballah water?

A patient is a patient...no matter the money..in my state all licensed nurses have a background check done at the time you sit for boards and at job application..no loop holes to slip through...pretty safe. Celebrities need to relax. Hell...I kept both of my daughters at my bedside post-delivery and I was with them until we went home. I think she may be a little different! Do you think the nurses taking care of her will kiss her behind or what...hoping for a grand gift basket!!!!

Celebrities need to relax.

I'm not so sure about. Brooke Shields recently talked about how many details of her previous attempts to get pregnant were leaked to the press by a nurse. And look at all the confidential info that was leaked during the Terry Schiavo case.

Whether a background check would prevent that sort of thing is another question, but I don't blame them for taking as many precautions as possible. On the one hand you could view as special treatment. But, on the other hand, a lot of confidential info is leaked that shouldn't because they're celebrities.

Specializes in Intermediate Care.

She's a celeb, let her waste her money.

They put up with a lot of **** from paparazzi, wouldn't you want your labor to be peaceful and free of unscrupolous medical workers doubling as paparazzi to make money on the side?

Do you know how much a shot of Britney in labor would go for? Easily into the 6 figures.

HIPPA is still in place no matter who you are and don't you think Britney's atty knows the rules...

It's sad but you are right. Why can't we let people enjoy their lifestyles. If they have grandiose wants and needs...let them pay for it..heck someone needs the hours of putting up with her high needs day of labor! All joking aside I wish her a safe and peaceful L/D...just like any other mom.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that HIPAA is always followed, as we've seen with many articles discussing the same on this board. They could sue but once it's leaked the damage is already done. What's so wrong with taking some precautions to try to prevent it?

As Pvt. Parts mentioned, the tabloids will be throwing a lot of money around. As they've proven many times, they don't care about lawsuits.
