Hey aspiring nurses,
I haven't seen a forum for the BCC applicants for fall 2015 yet, so here we go!! Who's applying to BCC? It would be nice (& is my hope) to become a support team to cheer each other on! I'd like to hear where you are in your process and if you're also applying to other schools.
As for me, my application is in, I just need to do Micro. Any suggestions for Micro professors?
I'm very excited and I'm sure you are, as well. Can't wait to hear from you all!
--All support is welcome! Any BCC nursing affiliates, feel free to chime in, as well--
:)
Southshore,
I have looked into both RN at BCC and LPN at DIMAN. I spoke to many friends and acquaintances that went to both schools and are currently working as an RN or LPN. Both are great options, but for me I think the BCC route is better for my situation. I am in my 40s, have 2 kids and will be leaving my job of over 14 years to go to nursing school. So my financial and time situation may be different than others. I prefer to complete my RN all at once and start working. I just don't have time on my side…lol I do have a plan B and will re-evaluate it if I do not get an acceptance letter this spring.
Hello Everyone!! Just finished reading 2014 post on the application matter and I could totally relate and felt the stress reading their post! I felt like I was watching a reality show in the 20 minutes it took me to read it! LOL I'm so happy that someone started one for this year of 2015 because as soon as I submitted my application, my anxiety and stress is through the roof. I can't even focus on the 4 classes I'm taking right now to finish my degree in Associates of Health Sciences.
I have applied to both BCC and Massasoit. I know people who have attended and graduated both programs and there are pros and cons about both in which makes my decision more difficult by the day!!! It's like ya I want to go to BCC because of the convenience of being close to home. But then I want to go to Massasoit because I hear their program is more about you getting your skills down pack and making you a more proficient nurse then a book smart nurse. Don't get me wrong, I think that it should be an equilibrium of both! But I like that Massasoit incorporates more lab hours so you can practice more!
I have also taken all of my prereqs, because before BCC wanted us to have pretty much all the pre-reqs done before applying in which they supposedly don't do anymore. But I heard from a friend in the program that they still do because they want their students to focus more on the nursing classes more than anything. But who knows!! I know BCC goes mainly off what your GPA looks like and what your grades are on those pre-req classes. I know they just want a 50+ on the TEAS!
Now on the other hand with Massasoit I heard they are all about the sciences! They look mainly at Gen Bio, A&P 1, A&P 2, Micro and that's their biggest deciding factor along with your letter of intention to being a nurse. I asked about my GPA when I went to the informational session and from what "Joyah," the session speaker said, it seemed like they don't even consider the GPA!!! I was like thinking to myself, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD I'VE WORKED FOR THIS GPA!?" LOL...
I'm so excited and anxious about finding out already!!! I hope we find out around the same time the people from last year did because I need a vacation after all this stress and anxiety and Spring Break seems like the perfect time for it!!!!
If anyone has questions, feel free to ask!!! I've gone through it all.. Having crappy professors, being played like a fool with admissions, being told something different from one adviser to another... I've come to conclusion that my success for college has mainly been through NETWORKING!!! I have literally learned so much from people on who to take, what to do, and how to get there in the fastest and most successful way!! College is not what it was years ago, like every other place, it has become a BUSINESS!!!!

AmandaJoy10, you definately have a fighting chance for BCC. Laboure, Quincy College and NE Tech are extremely expensive. A lot of nurses I know went into extreme debt getting their RN and have mentioned their regrets several times. Have you considered also applying to Massasoit?
I'm also considering putting in an application to an LPN program as a backup safety plan.
