Oh... well I guess people were inpatient with the wait like us so they must put the deadline back a month lol... I applied with all my classes done. All my prereqs done and teas taken... I was only taking other electives to just continue and finish my Health Sciences degree...

Natalie... I had a 3.6GPA... They really look at applicants who have completed everything that is required for the program, those are basically the people who get in first... and then they trickle down the list of other people... but if you recall the info session and what the women said about complete applications.... that everything they require had to be done by the application due date or you wouldn't be in the pool of applicants. I think they do this because of the competitive aspect of the program!

The deadline for applications for BCC has always been Jan 5th. I've been taking classes at BCC for a while and it has always been the same deadline. Maybe they already had all the students they needed that met the criterias they look for and they were able to send out the acceptance letters early.

Your degree works does change when they accept you. I was accepted to BCC 2 years ago and I remember checking it at dinner and I ended up breaking my glass of beer because I was so excited. LOL!!! But I'm shocked that they're sending the acceptance notifications this early because when I applied, we heard close to Spring break... Well its almost that time as I look at the calendar LOL... I've been checking degree works like a nut as well!! The anticipation is killing me more and more this time around!

Hey Biacoponi, TBH they give priority to students who have completed all the core classes such as: high school chem, English's, The sciences, math pre-req, psych, the history class, and the electives. But don't be discouraged because you never know! But in the mean time, you should take some more classes that will help you out in the program like: other psych classes, pharmacology, sociology, medical terminology, etc. Keep your fingers crossed and good luck!

Hey Emily, I think BCC is 5 or 7 years... You might want to ask the admissions person who did the info sessions.

Hello! Also have applied to BCC's program! I've gotten into the program before, but decided to go to another school. But then didn't end up being successful there because life took a turn on my end and I ended up working a little too much on my end. But BCC's process to get into the nursing program is pretty straight forward. They don't tell you bluntly, but if you have all your prereqs done and have a high GPA your most likely in the program (My GPA is a 3.6). The program is very intense, I did a semester at my other school and lets just say, its the amount of 5 regular 3 credit classes into 1 whole class. When you hear from the professors and other students that you need to commit your life and soul into this program, they are NOT KIDDING! The biggest mistake I did was not put more time into my studying. Hope everyone the best of luck! I'm no stranger to applying to programs, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask away!

I got wait listed and I have a feeling I won't be getting back in this Fall.

Misty, depending where you live, the mail service might take a couple days to arrive. I haven't received my letter either and I'm beyond anxious... hang in there!

So I have some news... I got a hold of a professor from the program and she did confirm that they are delayed with the applications. She did mention she is going to see if she can find out some more information for me. As soon as she gets back to me, I will keep everyone posted.

So it was about this time last year we got the letters! I know mine came in on a Friday, but my dad never checked the mail until the following Monday... So be on the look out for our letters! Hopefully they're not delayed with their decision this year!

Hello everyone, I was a student this past Fall in the nursing program at Massasoit. Unfortunately I failed by a couple points and will be reapplying for this upcoming Fall of 2016. When I applied for the program for the Fall of 2015, I had all my prereqs completed. I think this the best route to head in. The program itself is very difficult and an abundance of information all at once. TRUST ME, it's overwhelming, but just take deep breaths and keep telling yourself you can do this. There were quite a few people in my class who didn't have all their prereqs done, so don't worry too much about that. I think MCC looks mostly at your GPA, TEAS score, and also the letter you sent in on why you want to be a nurse. But I think now they have a new component of writing a paragraph at the information session to test your ability to write as well. The program itself, let's just say you will eat, breathe, and defecate nursing material for the next two years of your life LOL. The BIGGEST form of advice I give people is definitely cut down on your hours at work. Prepare yourself from now until this September to be able to. That's the mistake I did thinking I could balance both and working 32-40hrs a week due to staff shortage at work. The reason why you want to be able to start from scratch by cutting your hours down or on your responsibilities, is because you literally will trip and fall face first into the nursing material from day 1. That train will start rolling in motion and you better hop on and stay on.. Another word of advise is to build a strong backbone and learn to say "NO" to people and/or events going on that you would usually attend. At first, yeah it's going to suck to say NO, but ultimately, it will be so beneficial when it comes to your grade. Also prepare to say "NO" to your friends, family, and partners. Your social life will kind of be non-existent and unknown for the next two years. You will make new friendships, so you'll still have some sort of social life with your nursing crew. But keep telling yourself it's only two years. Just put everything on pause for the next two years and hit resume once you graduate. This is one of the biggest leaps in your career goals and you can do this. If anyone has any specific questions to ask about the program, I would love to answer them as much as I can. I'm not going to tell everyone the pin point details about the program because hey we all need some element of surprise, plus that's what orientation is for! Finally when it comes to the acceptance letters. If you're currently a student at MCC, keep checking your Degree Works at the end of April and beginning of May. I got my letter in the mail on May 5th or around that time. It's worth the wait. Overall you're choosing a great school and a great program. The professors are amazingly helpful, resourceful, and want you to succeed!!
