Bristol Community College-Fall 2015?!

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hey aspiring nurses,

I haven't seen a forum for the BCC applicants for fall 2015 yet, so here we go!! Who's applying to BCC? It would be nice (& is my hope) to become a support team to cheer each other on! I'd like to hear where you are in your process and if you're also applying to other schools.

As for me, my application is in, I just need to do Micro. Any suggestions for Micro professors?

I'm very excited and I'm sure you are, as well. Can't wait to hear from you all!

--All support is welcome! Any BCC nursing affiliates, feel free to chime in, as well--

:)

That is a horrible answer. Wasn't the deadline a month later last year and they went out mid-March? I'm pretty sure during the info session they said letters are out by March and you have to make a decision by April?

Yes the application deadline last year was February 5th and they found out mid-March. I was hoping for earlier but I can accept mid-March. April is ridiculous.

I decided to reread last years thread and when they called admission or the nursing department they were also told late April or early May so I think that is a standard response. No point in calling because they don't give out any helpful information.

On a good note last year they found out by checking their unofficial transcript or degree works to see if their major changed to nursing. This changed happened on 3/11 and they received the letter in the mail 3/13 or 3/14.

I just need to stay positive and not become obsessed with checking my BCC account.

Are there a specified number of openings for the nursing program?

Yes, approximately 74 for traditional day program and 24 for the eHealth program. I believe during the info session they mentioned they receive about 600 applications each year.

Ugh that doesn't make me feel very confident lol. I have my fingers crossed! Lol

Oh gawdddd me either :/ especially since my gpa is only 3.4. Hopefully having all my sciences done and graduated there helps....

The 600 includes incomplete applications of those who did not complete the minimum requirements. They did not give the numbers of the qualified applicants which I am assuming is much lower.

I too am nervous since my cumulative GPA is not great, but I have an A in all the pre-req courses which is part of the point system. I have not received a clear answer on how they rank applicants. Do they put more weight on GPA or points?

I know the TEAS score is just recorded as a pass/fail so my high score on the TEAS does not help me in any way...ughhhh

I've heard gpa is a huge factor. Basically anyone with a 3.5 or higher is what they look for. My advisor said there's been people with a 3.5 that have been wait listed 😩

That is discouraging. My cumulative GPA is under 3.5, but my GPA since I started at BCC in 2013 is 4.0 with 32 credits. Looks like I need to start thinking about plan B. I can not change my GPA from 20 years ago, the only thing I can do is continue to take more classes to raise it but that could take years. I have worked really hard working full time and taking classes to maintained a 4.0. I also scored a 91 on the TEAS but if your advisor is correct on how they decide then I will not be going to BCC. Sorry for the rant but I am about to cry now.

Don't give up hope just yet!

Thanks xhsx! I just wish they would give a clear answer on how they rate the applicants. I have asked several people at BCC admissions and they just respond by saying we look at both GPA and points together. The other schools in the area have a very clear points system so you know exactly where you stand. I just have my heart set on BCC.
