my heart sank when I got the email, and even more when I read further into it. I'm so sorry, and wish everyone affected, personally and professionally, time and space to grieve, and process in as much is possible.

to the mods and admins, we stand behind you, and are so grateful for everything you've done - always, but especially today.

Specializes in Peds/outpatient FP,derm,allergy/private duty.
May the entire family rest in peace.

And to all the staff trying to track down missing messages, comments, etc.... go grieve, don't waste your time making sure people can see how many people "liked" their comment. Geez... you folks actually had a relationship with this man. You must still be in shock and stunned by this tragedy.

I think I understand you are saying that we should allow those who knew the family space to grieve and process the shock? I understand that entirely. I wish I could express what an amazing rock solid group of people are behind the scenes here.

Then there are a bunch of us with more distance, and people who were very active and moved on and returned in droves when this nightmare started. I think those people who are hurting the most now feel us closing ranks around them and will find their balance through faith and friendship. We're in it with them for the long haul.

As I read about Brian and his family, my heart goes out to all of their family, friends, and co-workers as they grieve for the loss of their loved ones. I am drawn to the word of God as in this world of sin and trouble, where so many ills are known, first impressions can mislead us for we don't know the whole of what Brian and his family were experiencing nor what was in their hearts. I can only offer prayer for all of those hurting right now.

Lord,

When our friends encounter trials, we can help them if we're near, some may need a word of comfort and others just a listening ear, when sorrow grips our hearts as we think about the death of those close to us, remind us of the joy You are experiencing as our loved ones enjoy the pleasures of heaven. I pray that you will give hope and comfort to those left behind that mourn the loss of Brian, his wife Karen and their 3 children.

Amen

Brian has contributed immensely to the positive growth and development of nurses and nursing as a profession we will miss him dearly. May family and friends find the fortitude to bear this loss. My condolences to all concerned.

My condolences to all Brian's family, friends, and coworkers.

I firmly believe that this is just another reminder how important community is...to remind us how much we need each other...but that we might be to embarrassed to say anything....or to prideful...I'm sure he was an outstanding person, who for reasons that are nobody's but his and God's, but succumbed to a moment of vulnerability....look, I'm not here to take anything away from what this MAN did for us as a nursing community or for his family, but PLEASE remember to always love unconditionally both the familiar and stranger, our lives are insignificant as individuals but when we come together, that is when we make life as beautiful as we imagine it...God bless and continue to love

Sissybee gave me the news when I came into work tonight. How sad... how tragic... When it comes to such sites, I can usually separate from my emotions, but I'm having trouble now... As many of you have already beautifully phrased, Brian touched us... Brian's sojourn in this world affected me and heightened my feelings toward my chosen profession, and for that, I will always be grateful to him... Godspeed, Brian and Family....

Dear God. I just read what happened in the news. I am horribly shocked and saddened by what has happened.
