Hi All,
I'm wondering if any one has heard of Brandman University. They have a new ABSN program in San Diego, CA that i'm looking into. My grades are not competitive but i want to get into my career soon.
Has anyone been to this school, and if so, how did you like it? Do you think I'll be able to land a good job as an RN if I were to apply and attend? I'm nervous, since it is a new program! Such as, what if they end up closing and the degree won't be valid ?
Thanks in advance.
For those of you who did not get accepted (or were waitlisted but did not manage to obtain a seat) and had some courses deemed non-transferable, were you advised to consider taking the said course(s) on straighterline.com in order to "move forward?"
B/c apparently although I scored high, my micro from CSUSM and my A&P from Southwestern were deemed non-transferable and am now being advised to retake those courses from a website I've never heard of. The whole situation just seems weird to me so I'd like to know if anyone is/has gone through this as well.

Yeah! They did the same to me! Supposedly my Micro isn't transferable. I'm like I've been applying since December, how all of a sudden it's not? And he just said he's not sure and suggested the same website for me. It makes NO sense how my micro is transferable at all community colleges but not there. Your SWC credits didn't transfer?? That's total BS. My friend got in this period and all her credits are from SWC and they transferred. Or is your A&P the one that is combined? Because if so yeah it has to be separate.
Hi everyone,
It's a bit nuts. It happened, to me, I was told the same thing Summer admission period. Then I got in (no change in application). In the meantime I've been taking piles of units over the Summer to knock everything out. Then I got in this time (Fall). And it may be that my courses will be accepted after all. I believe my academic advisor submitted petitions but I have not heard yet.
Previously I was told StraighterLine was not acceptable, but I was told it was his time (by Academic Advisor) but I already left my StraighterLine classes unfinished and enrolled in a SUPER HARD Physiology class at UC Berkeley extension. I learned a lot though. I had other reasons for taking a class at a regionally accredited 4 year institution. I was told by my Academic Advisor that the reason why they don't say things are transferrable is because no one has transferred in with them yet. It may be that they will accept my classes from 30 years ago.
I was also told they are taking a more holistic approach to applications by my enrollment counselor. I think enrollment counselors don't really know the details of what is accepted and what isn't.
I do not have an actual answer yet on whether or not they are acceptable yet, but I will keep everyone posted.
What the FFFF HAHAH. No I specifically took the separate anatomy and physiology courses from SWC b/c I knew that's what's accepted/needed elsewhere. Honestly I felt something wasn't right. How are they going to accept someones credits from there but not others??
And dude yah! I applied back in March for the Fall2020 deadline and my transcripts were "lost" the entire time then magically found like 1wk before the deadline in May. Like my dude what? I even asked my advisor if I should send in any syllabi just in case and was told I don't need to. Now look where we're at, smh.
Hi and thanks for the insight. The whole thing is just still unorganized in my opinion and it's frustrating to students like us who have to deal with it. I had just told my enrollment coach that I'd like to petition and have submitted the necessary syllabi. Almost tempted to mention I heard someone's SWC courses were accepted while mine weren't b/c of the complete BS of it all, but don't want to upset the man who's in charge of my application ? hahah. But hoping same thing happens to me, get in next round.
I’m in the same boat. Although I was accepted they told me that initially almost all my science classes (anatomy, physio, Chem, Micro) did not transfer over. I found this odd since these are required to be accepted into their program. im currently awaiting to hear back from the Petition I submitted.
from what I have heard this is very common with newer schools. The only classes they will “transfer” over are classes they offer themselves or have already already been through their matriculation process. All my classes adhere to UC transfer standards so I’m confident they will be approved but we’ll see.
for those of you who got accepted please let me know when you hear back for the classes you petitioned.
That is weird that you were accepted since yah they're required for acceptance. But I mean that's great you were still accepted? Hahah. As far as your petition, what did you have to do for it and when did you submit it? I just want to know if I'm being put through the same process.
