Brandman University ABSN Program

Published

Hi All,

I'm wondering if any one has heard of Brandman University. They have a new ABSN program in San Diego, CA that i'm looking into. My grades are not competitive but i want to get into my career soon.

Has anyone been to this school, and if so, how did you like it? Do you think I'll be able to land a good job as an RN if I were to apply and attend? I'm nervous, since it is a new program! Such as, what if they end up closing and the degree won't be valid ?

Thanks in advance.

That's so weird. I was waitlisted as well according to my EC but still haven't received anything via mail...

Lollll it took forever to come haha I’m sure you’re is not far from you LOL

@ALM-BAMPH I hope by Saturday b/c I feel like getting something is reassuring since it backs up what I'm being told hahah

@ABN no worries that’s how I felt until I got my letter! Hope you get yours soon!

hello

anyone in the program can tell me about their experience?!

Hey guys!

I applied for priority Spring 2020 and was accepted! Starting in Jan 2020, but nursing courses won't start until Summer 2020. Meanwhile, I would have to finish a couple of pre-requisites that are only offered at Brandman.

hello!

just wondering how you are liking the program so far?

Hi! I just got accepted for cohort 3 this coming January 2021 and will have a virtual meeting this coming Thursday. Anyone know what will be in the virtual meeting? Thank you. Also if yall wondering about my stats, they’re not stellar. Cgpa: 3.5, sgpa:3.5, Associates degree, no nursing experience, but I guess I got an effective letter

that’s an “A” average or 90% at 3.5 GPA. That’s pretty good esp in your sciences. From what I have been reading science GPA has been a lot of people’s low GPA.

As for the virtual meeting, it’s a few hours on zoom, they go over all the people teaching in nurse program, they all introduce themself and what they do and what their backgrounds are then they introduce you to the librarians and the counselors that you had during admissions etc..

next they will literally read the entire nurse and brandman handbook that they went over with everyone including financial aid etc that each of us did privately with the admissions/nurse program admission person. Then they do this Brady bunch style montage where they put everyone on screen at same time and introduce each of the people in your nurse cohort. Then each person will introduce themself, what they do for a living, where they live, why they chose brandman and if they have any nurse experience or not. It’s about 30 seconds a person and roughly 25 people each cohort. Then they will do a weird virtual tour of the facility even though on mine it was empty and a lady walked the building stating in this room it will be this and that bla bla bla and a bathroom, and outside and here is a parking lot, and here is the door, here is where a fridge will be, but not food. And that lasted about 6 hours long.

We’ll have to introduce ourselves? Awww mannn...

hello! I too am in cohort 3! nice meeting you!

nervous about how this program will help us prep for the NCLEX since we are one of the first cohorts.

How did you feel about the faculty after the zoom meeting?

Hey,

Im not even sure what cohort im in and I wasn't notified about a zoom meeting. Im still waiting to meet with an academic advisor because my enrollment coach told me there was a glitch in the system which caused a delay in the students education plan. But he said that they'll contact us this week. I still have some prerequisite classes I still need to take. Did you take the lbsu classes at brandman?

the LBSU classes is what I needed to take and then I start my nursing core in January!

yeah I was told there was a glitch last week too....

im nervous about their organization a bit. but also want to get jump started with my nursing career already! how did you hear about this school btw?

Oh I see. Yeah I understand how you feel. I am a bit nervous about them too because it feels like they're still getting everything together and on top of that with covid it seems like its making things a little more difficult but I'm hoping for the best. I found out about them through researching nursing schools in the area and they popped up LOL
