Hi All,
I'm wondering if any one has heard of Brandman University. They have a new ABSN program in San Diego, CA that i'm looking into. My grades are not competitive but i want to get into my career soon.
Has anyone been to this school, and if so, how did you like it? Do you think I'll be able to land a good job as an RN if I were to apply and attend? I'm nervous, since it is a new program! Such as, what if they end up closing and the degree won't be valid ?
Thanks in advance.
That's pretty normal though. I don't know a medical program of any kind that didn't pick apart courses and choose what they liked/disliked and then went through and took out what was over 3-5 years old in sciences automatically some did extend to 7 years but that was rare! Then your left with a lot less than you thought to do or more. If all science is the most recent courses taken and all A's (4.0) grades then almost anywhere you did an application you get accepted. Then the rest of the classes you take are looked at. The interview and personal letters and your previous health care experience.
99% of nurse, NP, pa, md/od programs are impacted and incredibly hard to get into by criteria and volume of applicants.
@619nurse those cna bridge programs are also hard to get into depending on where you go, and take almost the same time frame. Outcome is the same though. So at that point I think it comes down to price of school applied to and the program fee's. Brandman was a bit shady on not giving a fixed price or explaining well what they charge. They also don't take a lot of financial aid programs available and other schools I noticed. It was a fight back and forth with mine bc they are not established enough to get those financial government programs and then it made sense bc the program is new.
@ABSN_SD rude to students that took course at those schools. I knew many people that took courses at National U and it's not a diploma mill. It's a private regionally accredited university with pretty high remarks. Those courses go through the same rigorous state checks that a state university and private school do. I'm not sure what you meant by your comment, but it's ignorant to think if you went to let's say UCSD vs National your nurse degree would=the same in everyone eyes esp the company hiring you. In fact more nurses are hired from National than a lot of schools they have a very good recruiting team for their grads. I have 2 close friends that are CRNAs from national and we're hired before school even ended. They are now working for Kaiser making a ton. Guess that diploma mill worked for them!
National, Point Loma, Asuza Pacific, Saint Mary's and loma linda are all "private" universities and all have the same criteria and same accreditation's and high state board scores.
If you think Brandman is terrible and a diploma mill statue then why are you even on here? Or trying to attend what you feel is a subpar academic program?
@Maiya Moua I saw a lot of comments from other nursing students that - that's correct - you have to take the two courses and then it'll be the nursing courses itself.

Sorry, but they are going to have you retake it regardless if you hold a bachelor also a lot of courses they want as upper division as well. This was another reason I chose to give up my seat, they didn’t accept enough of the courses I had already and I’d prefer to do bridge program at this point to save money.
Well, this is.... sad to hear. Hahah. Thanks for the heads up. Btw, what bridge program are you referring to?

I know it sucks to repeat or take extra classes but that's a drop in the bucket to getting an RN license. I have taken all required course work but they haven't established an articulation agreement with my previous college. However Ryan said I may be able to petition for those classes and would only need the two required courses before nursing core.

Yes the nursing dept. makes their own rules and guidelines from the website.
