Boston Direct Entry Program - Calling All Applicants!

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello everyone - I just wanted to create a thread for those of us applying to direct entry programs in the Boston area to talk. Has anyone heard from any schools yet? Although I did not apply to Regis early decision (I am applying by the regular deadline), I know that they have likely already notified people - congrats to those who got in! I called Boston College a few days ago, and they said they are notifying people late February. I'm also applying to MGH, Northeastern and Simmons.

Good luck to everyone! :nurse:

Of the people who applied to NEU and MGH, can you tell me what day your deposits/final decisions were due? Just trying to get an idea of when I can start nagging them about waitlists.

It seemed like different people had different deadlines at mgh. Mine was April 12, and while I accepted, I am deferring a year, which should open up a spot in the class. GL!

Hi All,

Has anyone gotten a call back from the NEU wait-list?

Thanks!

Hi! The deadline for my deposit at MGH was April 12th. I don't think it was the same for everyone. I'm also curious about the deposit date(s) for NEU b/c I am waiting to hear about the waitlist. Any input is greatly appreciated :-)

Hi LadyBird,

I just got called from NEU today and got off the waitlist. Don't give up hope, you could be getting a call too, just not sure how soon it would be. Good luck!

hey eab22,

Did you call MGH about the waiting list? I called them last week and they could not give me any info. con grats on your acceptance. Are you going there?

Hey Johanne,

I did call MGH and they could not give me any info either. Basically it appears that everyone who was accepted to MGH is going, or at least the class is full because they always accept a few more than the class size. The guy on the phone said he couldn't say anything but that some of the people who said yes may have sent deposits to several schools to have more time to change their minds so they may drop out at some point before September. I did not get any other acceptances, just the two waitlists, and since NEU is the only one to accept me, of course that is where I will be going.

Good luck! And I hope you hear from them soon...

Thank you for the info and Congratulations!!

I haven't heard anything but like you said, I won't give up hope!

Hello Ladies (and gents)

I am applying for the Direct Entry program for the 2012 academic year and I am starting my applications now. I am extremely paranoid about applying because I know how competitive it is and I was hoping someone could tell me if I had a good chance of getting accepted into a program based on there own experience. I'm applying to all the Boston programs, University of Vermont, Rochester, and Southern Maine.

I am a Health Sciences major at BU, 3.25 GPA, Resident assistant for 2 years, I have plenty of work experience, I've interned for the VA for a summer, interned for MGH for a summer, and I work at a Podiatrist's office.

I would appreciate any advice !! :)

Hi Jessram!

Oddly enough, I just graduated from BU, was a health science major myself with a nearly identical GPA and got into my top choice Nursing school (Regis College) so based simply on that, I think your chances are great!! My program really appreciated our health science curriculum, which helped greatly! I learned during the application process that nursing schools love health science majors, as it provides them the confidence that we will succeed in nursing school! It sounds like you have wonderful credentials, and I am sure you know all the ways to make your application stand out.

Be sure to mention BU's practicum, have your resume perfected, and always ask for an interview!

Best of luck!!!!!

To those in direct entry nursing at MGH IHP class of 2014:

I was accepted to MGH IHP for the Fall 2011, but defer to Fall 2012. I am excited to start in the Fall, and appreciate if someone in class 2014 could give me a hint how the class schedule looks like. I plan to work 8-16 hrs/week during the semester, do you think it's feasible? Thanks a lot in advance for your information.
