Book:Laboratory Tests and Diagnostic Procedures with Nursing Diagnoses (8th Edition)

Published

Will I really need this book for more than one semester? I ask because I would much rather rent it for the semester but if I need it for Semester 3 or 4 due to its handy reference material, then I probably should buy it.

TIA!

Yes, you absolutely will need it for more than this semester, and you will need it throughout and after your schooling well beyond. I think this is Fishbach, a very well-respected book and I used an earlier edition when I was a new critical care nurse and for some years later. Personally I liked Kee's "Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests with Nursing Implications" better as soon as I saw it for the first time, and that's what I recommend for students now and keep on my own desk.

Specializes in public health, women's health, reproductive health.

Yup. I'm in my fourth semester and a book like this comes in handy. You can get the previous edition for very cheap, but I don't know how much of the info has changed.

Grntea, No, this one is by Corbett. Yours recommendation has higher reviews. Maybe I will rent the one for class and purchase yours later... Something to think about. Thanks

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I didn't look at the link, but my book with lab tests I used through the whole program, particularly on later assignments, once I'd gotten my feet wet and knew to delve deep with stuff.

Specializes in Emergency.

One of our professors (and co-chair) wrote the book that is originally linked. It's a good book.

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.

You'll DEFINITELY need it for your clinical paperwork (interpreting lab values)!!!
