BMCC Fall 2011 Applicants - HESI A2

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello fellow BMCC nursing applicants,

Anyone applying for Fall 2011? They now require the HESI A2 (I believe the Spring '11 hopefuls didn't need HESI). Does anyone know what the percentages will be for prereq GPA/ overall GPA/ HESI score in determining the rankings?

I'm pretty worried now because I was hoping to boost up my overall GPA from 3.7 to above 3.8 this semester. But finals just passed, and I calculated my grades; I think my GPA is dropping to a ~3.63 because I might receive a C in my Microbio class. I'm considering emailing my professor and requesting some kind of administrative withdrawal instead of getting the C. If somehow I'm allowed the withdrawal, my GPA will become ~3.84. My prereq GPA is ~3.86 (2As, 2A-s).

BMCC is notorious for rejecting 3.8s, let alone 3.7s and lower. Should I rely on acing the HESI or should I contact my professor and hope I get the withdrawal? Or is there a possibility that a 3.7 this sem could get accepted?

Yes I called them last week and that's what they told me. So hopefully we will hear soon.

If you get a call please post it.I'll post it too.

Hello all!

Good luck to all those applying for Fall 2011 ... I remember how waiting for that phone call felt! I just graduated this semester from the BMCC nursing evening program ... feel free to contact me if you need any tips....

Bests of Luck,

Kasia

You have a 3.8 gpa but you're worried about taking the HESI? Is this a joke? lol

The HESI is the easiest test of allll time.

PS- I doubt ANY nursing school will deny someone admission if they have a 3.6 or above GPA.

I called today the nursing department and they said that they didn't make their decisions yet.The lady on the phone said that they are working hard and they need a couple of more days. They will start calling next week.

Good luck everyone!!!

Thank you guys for the updates! I can't even bring myself to call the nursing department I'm so nervous. But at least I can let myself relax over the weekend and start worrying again starting Monday. @Zaika2686, you have wonderful scores! I'm sure you have nothing to worry about! :)

@johnny_depp23: There are only around 100 spots for this program; if 100 people had 4.0 GPAs, even 3.9s won't be accepted :crying2: I'm so worried.

I got the call today!I picked the package at the nursing department!

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats! I got the call last night but haven't been on the site until now. I have to find some time to go get my packet since I work all day and they told me I could only pick it up between 12 and 5.

Hello everybody,

I just finished the first semester in the evening section. I was active at this board but of course it was impossible to do so while at school :D.

Just wanted to say goodluck to everyone and I hope to bump into those planning to attend the evening class. My advice for the afternoon and evening class (as I know who your professor is going to be :p) is to listen to lectures very hard, take careful notes, even bring a recorder if needed.

You will find (as others before me warned) that exams are very different in nursing class and that critical thinking is a definite must. Take time to read your books associated with the lectures everyday if possible because it will be very difficult if you cram a few days before the exam :uhoh3: (found this the hard way).

If anybody has questions, I will try to answer them as soon as I can. Right now, I am also starting to read some of the books for Nursing 2 (Maternity and Psych) that we are already required to buy.

Best Regards,

Dee

Hello to all fellow Fall 2011 students!

I also got the call today. I've been following this thread (thank you for posting about when the calls would be made) and I just wanted to pop in and say that I am looking forward to starting the day program in August.

Have a wonderful summer!!
