BMCC Fall 2011 Applicants - HESI A2

U.S.A. New York

Hello fellow BMCC nursing applicants,

Anyone applying for Fall 2011? They now require the HESI A2 (I believe the Spring '11 hopefuls didn't need HESI). Does anyone know what the percentages will be for prereq GPA/ overall GPA/ HESI score in determining the rankings?

I'm pretty worried now because I was hoping to boost up my overall GPA from 3.7 to above 3.8 this semester. But finals just passed, and I calculated my grades; I think my GPA is dropping to a ~3.63 because I might receive a C in my Microbio class. I'm considering emailing my professor and requesting some kind of administrative withdrawal instead of getting the C. If somehow I'm allowed the withdrawal, my GPA will become ~3.84. My prereq GPA is ~3.86 (2As, 2A-s).

BMCC is notorious for rejecting 3.8s, let alone 3.7s and lower. Should I rely on acing the HESI or should I contact my professor and hope I get the withdrawal? Or is there a possibility that a 3.7 this sem could get accepted?

hi guys,

im new to allnurses.. i also go to bmcc and i am finishing my pre requisites this summer and apply to the nursing program on spring 2013..

ddeguzman2 , i read from your old post that you took a&p 1 in summer.. how was it? can you pls give me some ideas on how is it going to be., i know a&p is a pretty hard subject and i believe summer will be so intense bcos ur gonna learn bunch of stuff for only 6weeks.

Good Luck Maria :) I about to complete nursing 112 and move into nursing 211. All the best to you.

I never took summer A&P but heard it's hard coz ur cramming a lot of info into 6 weeks but if u get a good prof n u put in the time u'll be able to do it. I had Jeremy Tausch for AP1 n Daniel Seth for AP2. AP1 prof was really good not so much the 2nd guy. Well good luck n hope u get into the NUR program. I'm moving on to NUR 211 in the fall :nurse:

hi maria,

sorry for the late response. we just had our finals last saturday so there had been no time for anything else (as you will soon find out when you get to the nursing program).

taking ap1 in summer is definitely intense and nerve-wracking as this is a critical subject and you must have an a or you might not have a chance to get into the nursing program. just work hard as the others said and make sure you'll get an a. this is all about memorization so if you're good at this, you'll be fine. flash cards for me helped a lot.

best of luck!

best regards,

dee

Thanks for all your answers :)I got an A for A&P1. yay! Lol My pre-req gpa is only 3.75 though. I read one of u guys got in with that gpa. So, im just gonna have to study really hard for Hesi and hopefully get a high score one that..

Hows the first semester of nursing? Is it hard? Im really excited to be in the program AND nervous I might not get in bcos of my gpa. Hope you all are having a great summer!

Hi BMCC students,

Hi BMCC students,

i have some questions, and i would aopreciate if you could answer my question since I have a HESI entrance test after two weeks, and I would like to know if they are also testing on chemistry and physics besides reading comprehension, critical thinking, math, and A&P 1 and A&P 2???? How many questions do they test under each categories? what website, and other extra materials do you recommend me to go through if you had taken the test already besides the HESI review book from the bookstore. What will they be testing on critical thinking??? Are they going to test on Vocabularies with reading comprehension?? Are the A&P questions difficult ? Pls let me know since I have a test on December 3, 2012 after two weeks... Thanks guys and good luck to you all.

Do you think I'll get accepted with a 3.70 GPA and high scores on the hesi?
