The debinding ideas are priceless. Making "mini" books; it's the little things in life that help us out during school. Thank you for sharing them.

For me, it all depends on the professor's teaching style. I love PPT slides that I can just print out and add my own notes. When a professor already has notes that I can download and print out, I find no use for a notebook.

For the major science classes I always used a big binder with dividers. This way I could put my lab manual inside, and always have it with me. I had a section for graded work, handouts, and of course notes. I kept fresh notebook paper in the front for taking notes, but always rewrote them when I got home (thats why a spiral wouldn't work well). I found this worked great as everything always stayed together in one place, and I never lost or forgot anything.

I just graduated HS in Spring, but I've found in my experience that it depends on the class. I bought several of both that I will try out to see which works better in each class. I've heard that some classes (mainly labs) require notebooks, but I guess I will have to see!

Definitely both, I like binders and traditional notebooks, I just can't imagine writing down my notes on loose leaf paper so for writing notes I use regular 5-subjects notebook, I just remove the subject dividers so I can have a thick notebook for one class, and not use 5 seperate notebooks for one class, but yeah definitely notebook fan.

I like a big binder...oh and I love those clear plastic page protectors for handouts. I'm a lefty so for me, writing in a spiral notebooks has always been a bit of a challenge. I like to scribble my notes on looseleaf and then re-write them when I get home. I find it helps to re-enforce the material. However, I really like the idea of typing my notes as well, i may have to try that.

From one lefty to another, have you ever found the notebooks that are made specifically for lefties? I have never used one since I have gotten so used to the spiral binding being on the left hand side. These "special" notebooks are also more expensive. There used to be a store called the Lefty Store in Boston but I believe it has gone out of business. You might also try flipping to the back of a spiral bound notepad and start writing from the back toward the front so the spiral is on the right hand side.

i like 3 ring binders myself. i like being able to 3hole punch & put notes/handouts/test back in chronological order if i get something back. with a spiral i cant do that :(

-ill use a spiral notebook if its just one simple class, but for many the 3 ring wins!!

A 3 ring binder works best for me. I put a "page protector" in the front where I put the syllibus, then a divider to seperate, and then I put a nice big pocket type folder, but its not like the folders w/pockets, its like an envelope type thing that expands and has 3 holes in it so I can put it in my binder.

I keep a lot of loose leaf notepaper in the binder. I hate notebooks.

I have always been anti-binder until I got to A&P. I used to hate carrying them around and I preferred my notebooks much more, but once I got to A&P there were just too many notes and handouts that I broke down and bought a binder this weekend (which I still haven't filled with all my stuff yet )

I carry a notebook and I stuff it with random loose papers, but I wouldn't recommend that.
