I'm waiting wth baited breath for the arrival of competent leadership in the form of political leadership which understands the role of the federal government. Biden's team will have deep and passionate interest in developing national strategies to combat the virus rather than combat the truth about the virus.
For too long we've swallowed the Republican lie that the federal government should be as small as possible. This should mark the beginning of the end of the GOPs forced austerity in American lives.

Interesting. The best way to combat the virus is a rapid development of a safe and effective vaccine. It seems the Trump administration had a significant role in that. Biden certainly did not.

Agree. It's the best way now because it's totally out of control with nearly 300,000 cases a day and Trump did have a significant role to play in that.
It's much to late for a Biden response, other than declaring a national emergency and Marshall Law and a total lock down forcing people against their will to close their businesses and stay at home and stop the spread and even then it won't go away without massive vaccination.
Trump deserves prompts for getting the vaccine. It could have been his legacy and finest hour. But he's told people not to fear covid, convinced people that Fauci is an idiot, and that it's no big deal and to not trust the media as it's all fake. Thus we're not really having the best of turnouts or response to the vaccine.
It will continue to be a mess throughout Biden's first year. But it will be refreshing to have a leader that seeks truth (and understand that changes as research is revealed), is compassionate towards people getting the illness and cares about health care workers struggling.

Vaccines would have been available for emergency use whether or not Trump was president.

Of course, but it was Trump that was president and made it happen. I can give him his props for that.

Quote“Operation Warp Speed” currently looks more like “Operation WOW!.” The big rollout is rocky and slow throughout the country, but the only surprise is that people are actually surprised.

That article is behind a pay wall. My contention is that Trump and his team did not actually make vaccine development happen...the first American vaccine to receive emergency use wasn't even part of warp speed. The vaccine development was already underway before Trump pulled the notion of Warp Speed out of his television vocabulary.

Vaccine development may have been started. But, the government took a lot of the financial risk away from the companies developing it, which enabled phase 3 trials to happen so quickly.

Biden represents 50 years of mediocrity while serving the People. He had two spectacular presidential bid failures. And now he's going to save us from the worst pandemic of our time (thus far)?
I appreciate your optimism.

Who said that Biden was going to save us from anything except another 4 years of Trump? The expectation is that Biden will appoint competent patriots rather than incompetent grifters to lead and craft our response.
