Best online RN to BSN program....CHEAP?

I have been a RN for about 1 1/2 years now and am starting to look towards going back and getting my BSN. I need something online since I work full time and have children, but also something that is inexpensive. What has been your experience with getting your

BSN online? Do you have to do any clinicals and if so how does that work? Are there any programs to help financially?

Try Excelsior.edu, they have great programs, online, and pretty cheap. No clinicals but I think that program requires teaching a class and videotaping it (or at least used to).

The RN-to-BSN program offered by the University of Texas at Arlington is online and priced at less than $7,000.

Unfortunately, cheap and higher education are not two words you are likely to find in the same sentence. You should look at several thousand dollars as a realistic figure. Good luck and happy newyear.

SUNY offers a few schools that do thier RN-BSN online. Clinicals are done in your home down. I found teh program very enjoyable and fair cheap. You get in-state tuition since it is online. The website is SUNY.edu

I'm in the middle of looking for a program myself. As I didn't feel nursing required a class in Texas History :-) , I think I'm going to Jacksonville University, but I'm not set in stone about it.

fort hays state university is $170 per credit hr. it is regional accredited and it is fully online it is one of the cheapest state university online. 7856284000 ask for nursing department .Good luck

Thank you all for your replies. I knew it wouldn't be really cheap to go back, but I didn't want to pay any extra to go to some Ivy League school. (No one ever asks you where you graduated unless it is in casual conversation) I just want the letters behind my name to move up the ladder at a later point in life. Eventually I would like to get my master's, but with three small children it is not in the cards right now. Thanks again for the responses.

I've been looking at EVERY online option out there. So far Ohio Univ appears to be the cheapest and quickest depending on what additional classes you need. They DO require statistics...ugh...but most MSN classes require this. Their tuition is the cheapest I've seen. I'm in the process of applying...good luck!

Keep in touch, I have to wait until I'm eligible for reimbursement from Fresenius (3-6 months) but I'm looking forward to getting started too. I know there's a way to exchange email without giving your address out to the world, but not sure how.

If anyone else has any experience with Ohio University please chime in!

I added that link to my folder of potential bridge programs. I do like the time/price! I was skeptical that it was too good to be true so I looked up their accreditation, CCNE. So looks good.

edit: Wait I just looked at their prereqs and it seems you have to be licensed in TX to apply for the program. But I wonder how difficult it would be to be licensed in TX but never actually go there? Hmmm.
