I have been a RN for about 1 1/2 years now and am starting to look towards going back and getting my BSN. I need something online since I work full time and have children, but also something that is inexpensive. What has been your experience with getting your
BSN online? Do you have to do any clinicals and if so how does that work? Are there any programs to help financially?
Have a wonderful new year and thank you for your responses.
What happened to University of Wyoming and Texas Tech university both online programs can be completed out of state no residency requirements.
Wyoming:120 clinical hours in addition to the 60 hours of coursework will be required for the 4 credit hours of the final practicum, NURS 4875
Tuition: $94 plus $40 online delivery fee so $134 per credit hour
Texas: 30 semester credit hours total $7,224.00, they do accept financial aid
No in the clincials in the traditional sense.
i will agree with the texas tech tuition (recent graduate) and also that tt is 2 semesters long......it was a good solid program. plus i did 3 hours of graduate work included in this price...cant beat it

What I've noticed with some of the online programs is the specific requirements for graduation can vary...history, etc. I have to look closely at the specificity of those classes. I'm trying to minimize extraneous course work. Anyone else have this issue come up?
i assure you uta is a major very well respected university in the north texas area....
i added that link to my folder of potential bridge programs. i do like the time/price! i was skeptical that it was too good to be true so i looked up their accreditation, ccne. so looks good.edit: wait i just looked at their prereqs and it seems you have to be licensed in tx to apply for the program. but i wonder how difficult it would be to be licensed in tx but never actually go there? hmmm.
As far as UTA goes...I was very excited about the program until I met my advisor. She was very UNhelpful and rarely available to answer my questions and give the necessary quidance I needed being that online high learning was VERY new to me. My interaction with the campus has been so stressful that I'm currently seeking out another school to obtain by BSN degree...just my experience
I am in the RN - MSN program with Kaplan university online...and might I say it is sooo expensive. For my BSN classes it's 350 per credit hour. I have 140 credits and several classes to go. I started in Oct of last year and probably won't finish till may of next year. I want to finish my MSN somewhere else....ideas anyone? :redpinkhe
Have you looked into American Sentinel University? Maybe you might want to surf their site and decide whether you're interested in going that route. I have navigated the site and it seems doable to me. website: www.ASU.edu
Good luck in your search.
