Best CSU for BSN?

Published

Hi all,

I've been reading around a lot of the postings and was wondering if anyone knew the which California State University schools were best for nursing? Or if there was any ranking? I'm applying for Fall 2010, and am waiting for a few to get back to me, but wanted to know what some other people think.

Thanks and goodluck to you all!!

That's an interesting question. I don't think you can really compare them without setting certain personal criterias. For example, some might prefer attending a school that's closer to the coast, while others might prefer cheaper living along central California. School prestige really matters with certain majors, but I don't think nursing is one of those majors. I think what's more important is graduating & passing the NCLEX.

But to answer your question, my school is the best CSU for BSN ... j/k

Yeah I understand what your saying, but I guess I meant in terms of professors, staff..etc.

Can I ask which CSU you go to?

I agree....my school is the best CSU for BSN also.....:D

there are a lot of factors to look into....really the "best" school is the one that treats you fairly.....actually for some people the "best" school is the one that accepts you into their program....

oh and you might wanna check admission deadlines....I know for a fact that for my school, to start the BSN program this Fall 2010, you would have had to apply last November 2009

Haha I guess theres no formal ranking for CSUs?

I have already applied for 10+ CSUs and their nursing programs.

I've gotten into Chico thus far and am waitlisted for Long Beach and San Francisco.

Can I ask what CSU you go to? Snwbdr :)

Not sure about what is best but you have applied to vastly different locales. So if you get into more than Chico you might want to look at where these schools are located and which you could see yourself enjoying the most. Cost of living around these schools should also be a factor.

love.peace.nursing - I'm accepted to both CSU East Bay & CSU Long Beach BSN program for fall of this year & I'm leaning towards CSULB at the moment. I don't think there is a formal ranking of CSU nursing schools. The only thing that comes close is perhaps NCLEX pass rates.

Sacramento State has one of the best CSU programs and it is one of the most competitive.

Sac State nursing program is one of the best and when I was still living there, I did some research for that program and their GPA average was 3.9 and TEAS was in the high 90s. I went there for my business degree and the uni is large with over 30,000 students. I met a nurse who graduated from Sac State and she said all of her classmates were offered jobs even before they graduated and she was making $40 an hour. Of course this was all before 2008 so things could have change.
