BCIT January 2017

Published

Just wanted to start a group for students applying for the BCIT January program!

I am accepted as well. Congrats to everyone who made it this year. for those of you who are still waiting to hear, good luck.

And I just want to tell some of you who dunt make it that I didn't make it last year either. You guys keep your heads up and focus on what you want to be. You will get there

Ubcpsychkid, hey there! Do you mind sharing with us what you applied with the first time ( number of credits, gap, volunteer/work experience) and then also the second time?

Hey guys,

I just found this forum I got put on the holdlist too. It was upsetting for a moment, then again I got short listed. Congrats to everyone who received an offer. Hopefully I see you guys in August 2017. I was wondering where do you find out how well you did on the questionnaire? I remember reading that someone scored 50%.

Jkizzle, if you got put on hold list i think thats a good thing, like you have good chance of getting in. You can find out how you scored on the questionnaire by emailing the nursing department!

Hey guys,

I've created a Facebook group! " BCIT Nursing Jan 2017 Intake " cover photo is a stethoscope/heart rhythm/heart

And aaaibra;

Eng: B

Anatomy 1 & 2: A-, A

Psych: A-

Elective Epidemiology: A

Elective Intro to Kin: A

Chem 11 73% (barely made that!)

Pre-Calc 12 74%

Don't give up hope! Perhaps do a short certificate and try again? That way you'll have more credits, another career option and you wouldn't be wasting money taking general electives that won't be applicable to you!

Hi everyone! I've just been accepted and found this group by chance.. I really look forward to meeting all of you in Jan :)

Guys, I know you're all very smart, passionate, mature and wise, therefore will not judge me. I don't really know if there's anybody like me, who wants to go to the medical school too? I have a BsEc and Ms, perfect gpa, Volunteer etc for all ever taken including science, and going to accomplish MCAT soon.

I've been here (in Canada) for only 2 years.

I had been accepted and started medical school in Europe some years ago, and was meant to become a doctor. But I chose to quit coz I met my partner and immigrated with him, long happy story.

I have found that nursing in Canada is more comprehensive and holistic, and for sure I can see much more desired responsibility, than I used to be taught nurses would have otherwhere. That's a good thing. But I've heard and read about disadvantage

s too. I feel like I love Nursing =direct care. I have lots of hands- on experience, including injections and wound care experience, pulse\heart rate etc however, I feel horrible pressure from relatives. Partially, coz I see that they don't really get into Canadian BsN Nursing.

And yes, I have children, 2 and 4, and really want them to know Mommy, not only Grandma or Nanny(((((

Please, share with me smth positive, otherwise I would just reject my offer.

Thanks

Hey guys I really feel those who have 60 + credits score high in education. I have a degree already and honestly most applicants have them since this program is considered an accelerated program (after degree). I worked as a phlebotomist for 2.5 years, worked as a summer fit tester for the hospital and 300+ hours as a medical first responder with St.John Ambulance. My grades are 3.5 GPA collective of the pre reqs, but my cumulative GPA is 2.6 from my degree. TBH the questionaire was literally the same the first time I applied so hopefully you copied and pasted the questions so you can prep your potential answers next time. DO NOT GO OVER THE WORD COUNT. Hope that helps

I think I was accepted largely due to work experience, unlike the majority posting! I had the bare minimum for credits, averaged a 3.7 GPA and my lowest grades were actually for A&P, but I have worked as a first aid attendant, volunteered with Rockdoc (event first aid) and worked as a flight attendant. I prepared a lot for the questionnaire, tried to think of the questions they would ask and had a lot of answers prepared before hand so I feel pretty confident that I did well! I know the average age for this program is higher (around 28 I believe?) so I'm assuming life/work experience is a big factor.

Im finishing up my first year and entering second year in BCIT program. let me know if you guys have any questions

Hi guys! Has anyone applied with Midterm Grades? Rumors are that they don't accept them anymore, but i'd like to double, triple check, because that would save me the wait for the 2018 intake (that seems SO far away!) THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR FEEDBACK!
