  1. WannabeRn first thing first, I didn't provide any medical documents because the reason of my deferral is due to family circumstances. I just contacted the Department and explained my situation, and they gave me a deferral. However, the financials as far as I know do not constitute a valid reason, because you can always get your loan through BC student aid, I've never had problems with that. Anyway, it's always good to ask from them or to contact financial aid, you shouldn't wait until the very end and put that risk
  2. Hi baiyujen. I deffered the term, so will be starting in August 21. I don't have to do anything, however I need to complete conditional requirements later (by May), whereas the commitment fee is required by December 7,2016. If you have any questions, feel free to ask
  3. Hi, Search for the "BCIT 2017 January intake" thread, that's a big one with lots of useful information. I've been accepted recently, for the January intake. I do have bachelor, however it's not obligatory. Admission Committee says, that an average successful applicant would have 45-60 post secondary and related work experience, which you have already, with good gpa (not specified, but those with low gpa wouldn't be shortlisted) I believe it doesn't hurt to apply, and you can always reapply
  4. Guys, I know you're all very smart, passionate, mature and wise, therefore will not judge me. I don't really know if there's anybody like me, who wants to go to the medical school too? I have a BsEc and Ms, perfect gpa, Volunteer etc for all ever taken including science, and going to accomplish MCAT soon. I've been here (in Canada) for only 2 years. I had been accepted and started medical school in Europe some years ago, and was meant to become a doctor. But I chose to quit coz I met my partner and immigrated with him, long happy story. I have found that nursing in Canada is more comprehensive and holistic, and for sure I can see much more desired responsibility, than I used to be taught nurses would have otherwhere. That's a good thing. But I've heard and read about disadvantage s too. I feel like I love Nursing =direct care. I have lots of hands- on experience, including injections and wound care experience, pulse\heart rate etc however, I feel horrible pressure from relatives. Partially, coz I see that they don't really get into Canadian BsN Nursing. And yes, I have children, 2 and 4, and really want them to know Mommy, not only Grandma or Nanny((((( Please, share with me smth positive, otherwise I would just reject my offer. Thanks
  5. I have applied with bachelor in economics, overall gpa 4.0,ie everything ever taken ranged from A- to A+. All required prerequisites - A+ each. Additional science credits like inorganic chem, cell bio, general bio - A or A+ each. 75 our if volunteer in the eagle Ridge hospital. I did guest services, holded all admited patient list, helped visitors to find them in the units, transfered in a wheelchair too (but didn't have to touch them) And I also did palliative care for a family member and I mentioned this as well
  6. Aaaibra, no way you can be accepted without questionary at all. But, for those who got a deferral like me -the next term you just have to submit an application, simple formality and complete all conditional requirements as well, but you really don't have to complete questions once more. So, I've been told by the department that I will get my further instructions in May, as I can't start in January due to family issues. And I will not participate in the competition one more time, coz I'm already offered.
  7. jwillis1 and aaaibra Guys, my consoling feeling for you! Please, don't give up. I know how do you feel, as I went through similar experience in UBC Midwifery. However, I got an offer here, and right now I'm gratified that ubc rejected me, as nursing is much more diverse and flexible. Just give it one more try, reapply for sure if you feel that's right for you. Lots of people reapply for several times to get into nursing, not even talking about med schools, where people may reapply for many successive years. Cheer up, get some rest, you deserve it and go ahead
  8. Hi aaibra, don't panic please! You're so passionate person and it's definitely not the last chance, even if this one happens to be not perfect! You will get it 100% sooner or a bit later. I have asked for the deferral, so my spot will be cleared and somebody will be getting it, maybe you)))
  9. Hi guys, I've got accepted too. Now will contact the department to figure out if I could get a deferral..... Congrats to everyone!
  10. Guys, it looks I'm the only one who really stays calm and just doing daily chores? Don't get too nervous as it depends now only on the committee. It will happen anyway, and all of you have another chance should this one become unsuccessful. Propagating calming and fortunate aura to everyone ))))
  11. Hi jyyw, Thanks for this info. I'm way too surprised they give points for LIBS as these courses never mentioned as obligation before applying or as boosters of points, and only optional tool to relieve a coursework later on. Regarding academic and work experience portions I have no question as it's the core of any competitive program as well as interview etc
  12. Moreover, if that calms down)))) it's very likely that I'll ask for deferral and in case I'm accepted -my spot may be given to somebody else))))))
  13. Terrelle, don't worry, all have been done is actually done, there's no super important reason to penalize you if a few words exceed.
  14. On the page with the description of the questionary, when you login and see the button "START QUIZ"
  15. Well, I remember that there was a note our response should not exceed 240-250 words limit for every answer
