BCIT January 2018 Intake

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

This wait is getting longer day by day. I am so nervous and anxious, how about you guys??

I'm feeling i won't be short listed. I used to go to another institution before, like a couple years ago and my grades there were barely passing. My grades are great at my new institution where I've been for 2 years, however i still have a poor transcript from the other institution so i feel i won't get short listed because of that. But still that little amount of hope in me :)

They only look at pre req gap i believe!

really? because i was reading the forums for the other intakes bcit has done and they posted an email from an advisor or something saying people with poor transcripts wont be short listed

I emailed an advisor to see how many applicants they have for the January 2018 intake, and they said they received 300+ applications.

Hi Twinkyswirl, I am surprised there wasn't more! Heard other intakes, there were over 500? Maybe it increases our chances then? :) Are you already in the Program? Did you apply to January or April?

I think it's because some people applied to the April intake. I'm not in the program, but I've applied to the January intake.

Good luck! Fingers crossed , I remember you started this post and shared your concerns... I am insecure too, but I think that at least, after our applications are reviewed, if they are not strong enough, we'll know what to expect for next time. So let's not lose hope :)

Does anyone know how many people applied for the april intake??

Yes. Fingers crossed for all of us! I've applied to Langara as a second choice, and I got accepted, but my goal would be to get acceptance from BCIT. Have you applied to any other schools? :)

I have been checking my email non-stop for these past few days even though I know that the results aren't even out yet haha. Everytime i check mail having messages, i would freak out and it will only say "spam". The long wait is just nerve wracking!

Does anyone know ? How much weightage is given to non-cognitive questionnaires ? Even if we are short listed, we have another hurdle to overcome. í ½í¸“
