BCIT January 2018 Intake

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

Yes it all depends on how well prepared we are, answering those questions. Based on what I've read from previous intake forums, I think they weigh the non-cognitive questionnaires about 1/3 of the final decision of your acceptance. So if you got shorlisted, there's likely 50% chance of you getting in or not (from my understanding)

They weight the non cognitive q pretty heavily. I scored a 50% on it my first application and that was a huge reason why i didn't get in, although I'm not sure why i got 50 they don't get too specific

Hey guys do you guys know if you can apply for january and april intakes at the same time?

Hi@ aaaibra, could you please share your gpa, work experience etc. ? Thanks

Unfortunately, we can only submit one application per intake. I emailed one of the advisor long ago and she clarified that if we want to be considered for april as well, we should make a request and write in the additional information of our mandatory questionnaire

Hi@ aaaibra, could you please share your gpa, work experience etc. ? Thanks

My Gpa is about a 3.5-3.7 isn I'm not really sure. The department said I got points for my "high gap" when I first applied. The first application i applied with 29 credits which they said was not enough and now I applied with 47. I have over 350 hours volunteering at a care home and almost 200 hours at burnaby hospital. I didn't have relevant work experience when I first applied but I got two paid healthcare related jobs in July that I wrote a letter about on my application and the department said it was good experience. I also added a recent first aid cert, cpr HCP, and two reference letters. I have definitely been working hard on improving myself and my application so hopefully it will be enough, if not ill keep trying.

OH and I also completed both Libs 7001 and 7002!

@aaaibra its sounds like your application is amazing!! i was wondering how many times you've applied for the program? being a re-applicant myself this year, it's super encouraging to hear the stories of other people in similar situations!

p.s. when you say department, did you email or call the bcit nursing advisors? they seem to have been helpful in giving you information about your specific application, and i haven't had the same luck! it would be great to know who and how you got a hold of them!

Thank you! Ive worked really hard and I just hope they see that! And this is my second time applying! I applied for the jan 2017 intake but didn't get in. And I emailed [email protected] they are the department and super helpful. They can look through your app and give you feed back. When I didn't get in I asked why and they told me what i had to work on and thats what I did! Definitely email them.

still pending department review -.-

@kasxo same here...

I think we will only hear back between Sept. 29-Oct. 2 based on previous intakes' forum posts on here... Crossing fingers everyone ?
