Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
For those of us accepted we have until November 17th or so to defer to April if we wanted to
Thank you for letting us know :) Is that also the deadline to pay for tuition and guarantee your seat for the intake? Trying to get some information about when waitlist applicants should expect to find out if a seat opens up or not!
I hope all of you who are willingly sharing your full names realize that you're setting yourselves up for cyber-stalking and who knows what else. And you've essentially nullified any anonymity this site might have to offer later when you're coming here to ask questions about other issues and to vent about clinical instructors, preceptors, classmates and employers.
The basic terms of service state:
- You agree NOT to post anything you wish to remain private on ALLNURSES.COM, INC as privacy is not possible on the internet.
- You agree NOT to hold ALLNURSES.COM, INC responsible for any messages posted.
- ALLNURSES.COM is a public site and is indexed by Google and other Search Engines on a daily basis. If there is something you are concerned about being public knowledge, you should not be posting it on ALLNURSES.COM or anywhere online.
No potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. While it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:
It is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. Your privacy is paramount to us.
While this site is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. Gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
Please do not give out personal identifying information about yourself or others. Do not name names where anyone could identify any person in any facility including your nursing programs or place of employment.

Yes tuition deadline I've got written down in November 13th.
Well good luck for all of those who haven't heard anything!! Tomorrow should be a big day. I sort of wish they would have emailed all the acceptances, waitlisted people, and rejected people on the same day. We are all making these assumptions and don't really know what's going on.... oh well I guess. We better find out tomorrow haha

That's so weird to me! That would mean that out of 243 shortlisted applicants, 128 of those should be offered a seat in either intake. I'm starting to wonder if it even matters if we applied for January or April....
