BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

So i emailed them today about my application status, what's the class average for the quiz and if all acceptance letters have been sent out already but i got an email back saying "Due to increased volume of emails, we will get back in 3 business days" hahaha guys I think everyone must be emailing the Nursing program nonstop and crazily >_

Hahahahah oh jeez.. so now we're left with unchanged application statuses AND unanswered questions! The anxiety is too real.

The stress is real LMAO

How do you see who is shortlisted? I noticed some people commenting about seeing the names of the shortlisted applicants

Go to the learning hub, click on "BSN Applicant Quiz - 2019" under my courses, click course tools, and then click class list and you'll see all the names on there!

So I guess tomorrow's the day we start to find out....again? LOL I've been good today, first time logging on since last night. I can't handle it anymore. My anxiety has been through the roof.

Hahahaha literally me! Once Friday was over, I was chill all day yesterday and today. Just workin' away and barely checked my BCIT account but tomorrow is just going to be another repeat of Thursday and Friday LOL

So true!! The agony begins all over again hahaha. I want to know so desperately, but at the same time I'm also absolutely terrified of what the message will say...

Hey @catsanddogs if you don't mind me asking, what did you apply with! :)

Not at all! I applied with 42 credits, overall gpa of 3.2-3.3 and the following grades:

A&P: A- and B+

English: B

Psyc: A-

Math elective: A-

Chem elective: A-

For experience I talked about serving, a customer experience job and volunteering at a care home. I felt really good applying but after seeing everyone elses applications I realized the competition is definitely tough this intake!

also I didnt take the libs courses yet.. has anyone completed them for their application? I wish I did but I had no idea you got points for it.. they dont mention it on the website at all

I've taken the equivalent courses at Langara but they don't transfer over. Its weird how the Libs courses transfer to Langara but their equivalents don't transfer to BCIT.
