Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
I've taken the equivalent courses at Langara but they don't transfer over. Its weird how the Libs courses transfer to Langara but their equivalents don't transfer to BCIT.
Yeah it kinda sucks tbh. I was actually going to take a medical ethics class at douglas college but apparently nothing transfers to bcit libs so no point in that!
I wonder when they will be able to release the class demographics for jan 2019 intake. Realllllyyyyyy hope they give a certain percentage of seats to non degree holders so that a lot of us have some chance at getting in

I noticed somebody mentioned that october 31st was the deadline for sending out the letters. Was this specified in your BCIT e-mails? I do not see any deadline in mine. I applied for the april intake. Good luck everyone!

Haha I'm sure you're not the only one, I feel that way as well!!
I'm not sure about the April intake, as I applied for the January intake.
The deadline was mentioned in our general information pdf that was attached in the email that we got.
It says that "All applicants will be notified of their final status by the end of October via your myBCIT communication account."

No I don't think it was specified in the emails but a lot of people have emailed BCIT asking for application status updates and they've always replied vaguely with the "everyone will know of their final status by October 31st" message
