Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
Anyone know if the 250ish short-listed applicants on D2L are only for the January intake? Or are the April short-listed candidates also included in that?
I'm assuming that includes April applicants too because I was told by admissions that 200 people were short listed for the January intake! Also, where are you seeing this on D2L?
Hmm, actually I'm not sure anymore because when I emailed admissions specifically about the January intake, they told me over 300 applied, over 200 were short-listed and that there are 64 seats available. I wanted to know the exact number of short-listed applicants so I checked on the BSN applicant quiz page > course tools > classlist where it named around 230-240 people I believe!

I really hope that is January and April together otherwise our chances of getting in are even less than we thought
My friend has applied to the January intake and her name is on the list! I'm hoping to get accepted to the April intake and my name is on the same list.
Oh! Well in that case, that's amazing because 128 people will be offered a seat (in total for both intakes), so it is roughly a 50/50 chance!

Oh jeez.. has anyone emailed admissions about their questionnaire score? I wonder what the average is for each intake
