BCIT January 2014 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

Specializes in Critical Care, Med/Surg, Mental Health, Oncology,.
I called them and asked them over the phone. They just asked for my student ID and told me the payment will be due sometime in February

What was it? About $5,800???

....IF you don't mind me asking.

hello! I can't find the group on facebook either =/ could you send me the link?

I wonder if anyone has declined their offer.. I'm on the holdlist right now so hopefully I am able to join you guys in January!

Hi everyone!

My names Aly and I'm a BCIT Nursing Student just finishing up level one.

I'm here for any questions you guys might have about the program or what to expect from level one! :)

Hi Aly! Thanks! I just pmed you! :)

For level 1, how were people placed into clinicals? was it based on where they lived? or was it completely random? Also, was it possible to switch with someone if they wanted your clinical location instead?

They try to do placements close to where u live for level one. The hospitals are lions gate, Burnaby, eagle ridge, surrey, and langley. After level one it is random. I do not think you can switch locations unless there is a good reason. I am just finishing level one! This program is amazing you learn so much in such a short period! I can't wait to see what level 2 has to offer! :)

And royal Colombian! ;)

Thanks! also what do they say about the ease of finding a job while in the program and after?

Tons of nursing jobs! There is a place in nursing for everyone :) there is a transition happening where rn is being replaced with lpn and rn r taking on more of manager roles but depends where u wanna work

At BCIT you can't work as an ESN as you will be paid in your final preceptorship in level 6. Many students who work as ESN's need to in order to obtain enough clinical hours. This isn't an issue at BCIT. This is per the Level 1, 2, & 6 Head.
