BCIT January 2014 Applicants

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

Can't wait to meet all of you in January. It's only two months away... which means I need to find a place to live :p If anyone in this forum knows of anybody in the Burnaby area renting out a room or if anyone here needs a roommate pm me! I'm moving down from the Okanagan area and don't want to leave this to the last minute. Cheers!

I'm so excited to meet you all too! Reading the information they sent has made me so excited. Nervous, but so excited!

Someone should make a facebook group so we can all meet on there!

Done! Search "BCIT Nursing January 2014 Intake" on Facebook or PM me for the link. It's a group within BCIT so you'll just need to verify your mybcit email address. :)

Weird. Check your PM, I sent you the link!

got it thanks!!

When did you apply for a loan? I did it last week so I knew I wasn't approved yet but I wasn't taking any chances. Borrowed that cash from mamma RIGHT away....

Haha niice! I applied last week. i think it was either last thursday or friday

Did you get an email saying your fee deferral was approved or did you have to contact them?

I called them and asked them over the phone. They just asked for my student ID and told me the payment will be due sometime in February

^yeah I emailed them and and my deferral got approved! Though I got my disbursement details from StudentAidBC and it's JUST enough to cover tuition.. looks like I'll have to find a different way to pay for books/uniform etc :(

Can you please pm me the link as well? Thanks!

Caroline, look into professional student lines of credit. RBC has the best one and gives $40,000 for nursing students. If you have decent credit and minimal debts you don't even need a co-signer. PM for more deets but there's a few banks you can look into - BMO, TD, Scotia and CIBC all do Student Lines of Credit. Some of them give junk compared to the dubloons WE need but still, any money is money. I am gonna work as well as a LOC AND a student loan.
