Hello eveyone is there anyone that attends Barry Universities Basic option nursing school in the fall. Can you please tell me how its like, the teachers, the experiences.
Hi guys..
I will be attending Barry's Basic Program this fall 2009. Just waiting for Orientation day..
Let me just say, the whole process (completting pre-reqs, applying, WAITING, getting accepted, meeting with a counseler who will let u know which classes you r missing, getting all req. met in order to start the program; cpr, ins, physical, vaccines, entrance test, financial aid, etc..) can feel very stressful, BUT if you really want this..dont give up. Ask questions at the school, make phone calls, write emails..find answers.
Good luck and always remember..NURSES ARE THE PATIENTS BEST ADVOCATES!!!

Gatita28,
I spoke to the advisor the other day, and she happened to mention to me that Bio-medical ethics must be taken prior to starting the accelerated program, since accelerated students carry a heavy load of classes. Students like me that begin the basic program in Fall 2010 can complete Bio-Medical ethics during, since we take less credits a semester. Intro to Ethics does not cover Bio-Medical ethics, but it does cover the philosophy credit needed. Perhaps they make an exception and allow accelerated students take Bio-Medical ethics during the program?
Have you seen the nursing advisor? If not, you should see her ASAP! She is the only one that can give you the correct information and register you for classes.
Send me a pm so I can give you the email of the person you need to contact to make an appointment with the nursing advisor.

Yes, this application process is EXTREMELY stressful. My best advice would be to see your regular counseler...they can really orient you well..
The computer class they accept is CGS 2060, which is the intro to micro computing you mention.
The physiology class is one of the sciences so this MUST be taken before you begin the program...it is my understanding that religion and speech could be taken while in the program.
The religions course I took was REL3308, World Religions. I highly suggest you take it as it covers 1 of the 3 upper division humanities required. Also, if you took COM 3461, Intercultural communications, this covers 1 of the upper division humanities too. So now you have 2 out of 3..the 3rd is the Bio-Medical ethics which only Barry offers. I suppose you took PHI 2600, Intro to ethics, correct? This covers your philosophy election.
Have you covered your history, and sociology elective? You also need one other random elective...perhaps finite math that you had to take @ FIU could cover that as well.
And just curious question, had you applied for the nursing program @ FIU for this fall? Maybe we were classmates. :)
