Barry CRNA Starting 2017

Published

Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! :o How are you all faring?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.

I was told that there will be at least 2 more interview dates.

Maybe by the first week of May we should hear something. I heard they don't give you more than a 2 weeks notice :/

Do they interview for all clinical sites at once, or do they interview at each site independently for that site only? I'm pretty much willing to go to any site, and I think I chose Tampa (on a whim since I shotgunned my app-not knowing was competitive). I'm willing to go to pretty much any site though. I may have to call and ask to change my requested site. Do they offer other clinical sites?

Also, I've read that Orlando is a difficult site. Can anyone elaborate? Is this based on the the size of the hospital? workload? instructors?

Don't worry about the site right now. When you interview they will give you a form with your top choices of sites.

They interview everyone in Hollywood beach. You hand in a paper from the packet they give with ur top 2 choices. If accepted they said we wouldn't know which site we get until Oct

Has anyone heard anything from the April 15th interview?

Has anyone heard anything from the April 15th interview?

I haven't, however, its only been 4 business days. If nothing today then definitely next week. It seems as though the previous interview session didn't hear anything for about 2 weeks.

After my interview on Friday April 1st we received emails on Monday April 11th. So hopefully you guys should hear by Monday. Good luck.

Anybody know how many students they're taking this year? Just wondering why last year only 62 students matriculated vs 72 and 88 the years before.

I was told by a friend in the program that they accept up to 80 ( or around there ). I'm assuming there is such variation due to the number of CRNA programs in Florida. Students probably accept a offer from Barry and later decline once they find out they have been accepted elsewhere. I hear Barry is the toughest on their students compared to the other Florida schools so others choose the easier route. And obviously some years are more competitive than others.

They said they can accept up to 70 people as of right now. They put in a request to the accreditation commission to be able to accept 90, but they're still waiting to hear back. Apparently the clinical sites love Barry students so much, they're requesting for more. Let's hope that will be a yes for this year's admissions.
