I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO BAPTIST AND WILL BE STARTING THIS FALL. I AM SO EXCITED. I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT TO EXPECT AT ORIENTATION AND ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES AT THE SCHOOL.
Yes it is possible to test out of the computer program.
Yes, it's possible to test out of the computer course....only if you've had another introductory computer course within the last 3 years. Other than that you can't test out.
I'm very computer savvy and they wouldn't let me test out because I didn't have an intro computer class, eventhough the instructor didn't really teach me much, I did enjoy the class.
As many of you probably learned at orientation, the curriculum was changed in Spring '08 in order to (hopefully) decrease the dropout rate. Your graduation date did not change, but instead of taking 3-4 tough nursing courses your 5th & 6th trimester, you're only taking 2 nursing courses with a gen ed class or 2. I know everyone wants to finish ASAP, but you only get 1 chance to repeat a class once you start your clinicals, so you want to pass them all the very first time! I wish you all the best as you get ready for the Fall trimester, & you will love Baptist!
wow. as ladybug can attest, orientation was anything but exciting. it was more sitting around listening to information most of us already knew, not to mention the long waits to register for classes, meet with an advisor or to meet with a financial aid rep. if you're heading for orientation, take along some soduku. or a good book. or something...
I can honestly say that I have started not to dwell on the wait anymore. If I spread my classes out I could actully make better grades and be able to concentrate on them better to make the good grades. I am also looking foward to making good friends that are going through the same thing as me. I am looking foward to school starting, I know this time will fly by.

Baptist is undoubtably one of the best nursing programs in the city of Memphis, but it is quirky.
My graduation date didn't change either.
