CONGRATS!!!:yeah:
I'm still trying to bring my grades up so i can be accepted soon.BEST WISHES!!!!
i, too, hated calling the admissions department. but you know what? call her all you want. it's her job to answer the phone. perhaps you could notify them anonymously as to how rude she is.
as for orientation, be prepared for the second most boring day of your life. it'll be a lot of material thrown at you, most of it you probably already know. but just grin and bear it - it's awful.
as for the school itself, once you get past all the red tape (hobet, application process, rude people, orientation) it's a GREAT school. they really and truly do care about the students. people love to blast baptist saying "it sucks, it sucks, wah wah wah." but notice those are people who don't attend bchs. it has consistently had one of the highest (if not the highest) nclex pass rate. so stick that in your pipe and smoke it, all you who trash baptist...
one final thing - it's a very demanding school. they demand a lot from their students and that's a good thing. see the previous paragraph.
best of luck!

I was bumped up, but chose to fall back, do to gen eds. I just don't think taking gen eds with clinicals is beneficial for me. I was originally a Sum 09 entering program, but then they pushed me up Spring 09, now I'm back to my original Sum 09, I'm glad because I want all my gen eds out of the way. I don't want to rush and commit academic suicide. However it's up to the individual, if you think you can handle it go for it.
I went to BCHS for two semesters and wanted to get into clinical much earlier than the far away scheduled time so I transferred to a MS school. I plan to transfer back after I finish the ADN program. However, the only 'talk' I've heard about BCHS grads is that they are more book-knowledge than hands-on knowledge/experience. I can't say how true/untrue. I will agree that it is much easier to get your gen eds out of the way before you begin the program because the core nursing courses will take most of your time. Good Luck!
Will they let me start classes if I am not completed with my Hep B series? I've never had it before and it looks like it takes six months to complete and I can't get into my doctor for my physical until the 17th.
Probably if you have begun the series, you just can't start clinicals or must sign a waiver if you're not finished or proved immunity prior to clinicals.
re: hep b, i had my series completed by the time i enrolled (i used to be a device rep so i was in hospitals and clinics a lot). but nowhere did i read that you have to have the series completed by the time you start, probably have to start the series (or complete it) when you enroll.
as for bchs grads only being "book smart", the jury is still out on that. i **highly** doubt bchs would continue to produce "book smart" grads if they saw that their grads weren't that good with the actual clinical experience. i'm sure they would have tweaked their program by now.
yeah, i am a bit tired of it. however, are there things i would change about the school? absolutely. like no BCE, no dumb prereqs (like computers, world lit, philosophy, religion) and a better clinical schedule. i understand the need for those prereqs if the person doesn't already have a bachelor's degree. but i have 2, working on my 3rd and still have to take them. sort of p's me off. re: the clinical schedule, i would love to be able to start clinicals a lot sooner but like my mom always said..."wish in one hand, boo in the other."
but no one school is perfect. i do not regret my decision to attend baptist and think it is a wonderful school full of AWESOME professors. anyone who says otherwise should first be a student at baptist...then they'll have room to talk if they want.

I'll be attending in the Spring! Unfortunately, they didn't mail out the letters until the 18th and orientation was on the 22nd. I missed it, since I was in a car wreck and checking my mail wasn't my first priority. So now I have to take off work next Friday, the 5th. Oh well.
Whoever answers the phones in the admissions department is so rude. I hate calling up there. They didn't put the insert in the packet about orientation and the times, and she kept insisting they did. I told her they didn't and asked what I should do and she didn't respond, but transferred off to someone else. She needs customer service training!
