Banner Nurse Fellows Program

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

I received a voucher that you bring in with you and have to check off 5 lines of things you will be picking up...

Texts for Blocks 1-4, Kozier Fundamentals text, Sim Access Card, Phillips Manual of IV Therapeutics and the Nursing Tote.

It also included the medical stuff vaccines, physical ability to perform in nursing school, classroom assignments and the schedule. I am going to try to go down this week with my daughter while my son is in school to get some of this accomplished with the residency stuff...so I can have a bit of fun with the kids during the fall break and not scramble right before.

If anyone that recently got their books for the upcoming October 2009 cohort has time to list them here that would be wonderful. Online it says the nursing pack of books for $8oo + but it doesn't give a detailed list. i wanted to order some extra books online that are on sale but I did not want to get duplicates. Is there a care plan book? What is in the nursing tote? My school EMCC has not sent out the welcome packs and the sale ends friday :(. They aren't sending them until next week so they say. If someone has the time that would be wonderful. Thanks I know that is a lot of books. ---Kelli

There are a ton of books in the pack, on my copy of the receipt it was over $1200! Including the NCLEX guide. Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference, Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory tests and a nursing diagnosis handbook (I'm sure you were wondering if these were included.) Honestly I don't think you need to get much else, Banner really provided almost everything you need to succeed, that is what they want you to do, isn't that a nice feeling. :) The tote included practice equipment for EVERYTHING: meds, catheter, IV, trach care, etc...There are so many books and such that I don't have a place to unpack them all yet so they are still in their boxes on my office floor.

Anyone from the EMCC October Cohort received their welcome packet? I am still waiting and it is killing me LOL. I feel like I am not prepared and need to get more things but I need the welcome packet first. Someone I talk to says they called and supposely they are going to mail them out this week, but who knows if they are just saying that. I really hope they do because I hate waiting. ---Kelli

It is driving me crazy LOL. Melina called EMCC last week and they said they would send them out this week so we shall see. They also said they would send an email. This is as bad as waiting for the answer after the interview lol. Well I will post as soon as I get anything. Talk to you soon---Kelli

Good luck with that. Each block's schedule is different, and you don't always know too far in advance what it will be. They change a lot, too. The most important thing you will need at EMCC is a great study group. The Saunder's Nclex book is an asset to those wanting to buy extra books. The disk that comes with it has over 4000 practice questions. It has helped me quite a bit. Good luck to all incoming Banner Fellows!!!!

i know we have our orientation in less than 2 weeks (yayy) but if anyone would like to meet up before then, please private message me! maybe for breakfast, starbucks, etc..

i live in the mesa area but is also close to tempe, scottsdale, gilbert, etc.

I am still anxiously awaiting the info packet and it is driving me crazy. I know we have plenty of time before our orientation on the 22nd. But I will still be checking the mailbox everyday hoping to see the packet. lol

I know the wait is horrible. I am so excited that I have my uniforms now it seems like everything is falling into place. I just want my darn packet LOL. I know once the program starts I will be wishing I had a break :). I am just so excited to start. Checking the mail everyday like a little kid waiting for a birthday gift LOL. Maybe this weekend???
