I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
I am not sure exactly what they are looking for in the essay questions. I think just answer them honestly and you will be fine. I know they like them to be short and to the point, trying only to use the original sheet. My panel interview was quick and I was interviewed by 2 very nice ladies one of them was probably at the information session. You can find out more of what kind of questions they ask from reading this thread, yep start from page one and read on LOL. I think most of us have. Just be yourself. I know that they look at the net scores and your GPA as well. I had my interview and was accepted in less than a month. That is not always the case so be prepared to wait for a reply to your application and if you get an interview be prepared to wait for the answer whether you were accepted or not. Good Luck
I haven't been through the program yet I start on the 26th of this month at EMCC. I am so nervous but excited at the same time. I am honored to be in the Fellows Program so I need to make it work LOL. It is exciting to be at this point but it is going to be very stessful the next 16 months. Good Luck and this is the place to ask all the questions you need to :). ----Kelli
BF Hopeful:
Book wise there are a TON you will be receiving, Kelli has a list I sent her of what I received from GWCC. I had to use a furniture dolly o get them it my car. Schedule wise I'm not sure what your's will look like but mine is 8-4 M-Th. Take a deep breath it will all come soon.
You will get your books--all of them--at orientation. As far as your schedule, go on the EMCC website and look under class schedules. Pick nursing and then find the date your cohort starts. You are the only ones starting in Oct, so those are your classes listed. You have 104A and 151 and clinicals are at the bottom of the 151 schedule. :wink2:
i was very disappointed as well when i opened my packet today. it is stuff that could be seen online. i hoped that i would be able to go get my books and get some reading done but there was no voucher or book list. i wanted to do my drug test and that info wasn't there either. i just expected more especially since i have been going crazy checking the mail everyday and that is it lol. so now all thirty students in our class are going to be in the book store on orientation day trying to get books lol that ought to be fun.oh well at least i was able to get my uniforms and i also purchased my stethoscope. some things are getting done. uniform hint if you order them online instead of going to the store to try them on: i went to the store and my first instinct was to try on a medium flare pant well they run really big so the guy that works there had me try an extra small drawstring pant and i was thinking yeah right buddy i could never wear an extra small lol (normal size for me is 5-7). well sure enough this guy knew what he was talking about because it fit. i actually got the extra small tall drawstring pant. the extra small flare pant did not fit right because it would of been to short and they don't have tall in that style. the cargo pant was ok but i prefered and he said a lot of others prefer the drawstring or flare. i got the medium size shirt and that fit well, it gave me some room to move. it is a very resonable place to buy other stuff as well and students get a discount. well i guess now we wait for the 22nd. ---kelli
You will print out the form to take to get your drug-test at orientation, and you have a window of time when you can go. Then you go to the bookstore and get your books-they are all packaged for everyone. It does take some time, but it isn't too bad. They are heavy!! You probably won't have a syllabus until the first day of class. That's how it was for our group anyways. It isn't the most organized program (EMCC). Be prepared to be frustrated at times.

where did you go to get your uniform? -kim
I went to apparel pro which is on University and the 143. It is the place that has the embroidered tops that are a requirement for the program. http://www.apparelprousa.com/

After receiving our packet and getting absolutely no info on our schedule I talked to one of the girls I work with that is also starting the Fellows cohort this month, but at Gateway. She already has a full schedule with classes, breaks etc. I emailed Estrella to find out any further information regarding our schedule. I explained that I have kids and a job that I am trying to balance with school and that it will be impossible to coordinate everything if I get my schedule 4 days before school starts. Basically, I was told there is no info to be had at this time, not even the days we need to be at school. When I had my inteview with banner I stressed how organized I was and stated I have a great support system to make this all work. I was counting however on getting my schedule at least a few weeks before school starts in order to have everything all set to go by the first week of school. Unfortunately at this point I am running into some major issues and the uncertainty leaves me unable to set a work or before/after school schedule for my kids. I don't know what to do, I am so stressed, this is certainly not how I wanted to start school.

I am a first time visitor to this site and need some help regarding the nurse fellows program. Now please forgive me if these questions have already been asked. I am so interested in applying to the program, but I am still a bit confused even after the information session at Gateway. Can anybody please tell me what they are looking for in your answers to the essay questions? And also what is the panel interview like? Any pointers would be super helpful. I plan on applying next year, but I want to be able to go in prepared. Any help would be great.
Thanx
