Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

i am going to the info session tomorrow, but am wondering...what if when, upon graduating, banner doesn't have open positions for all of the fellows who graduated? what happens with your contract, or are you definitely guaranteed a job upon graduating?

If that happened, your books and tuition would still have been paid for,(no harm there) and you would not have to reimburse Banner for their investment, you would be able to seek employment elsewhere. Can't really lose because believe me, if Banner doesn't need any more nurses, neither will any other hospital....and it would be much better to be in a position of having your books & tuition paid for rather than taking out student loans or having to use that cash to get you through school.... I'm sure you have other things you would rather spend 6G on. lol. Good Luck... You will get all the info you need at the info session.

Does anybody know how much you get paid after your graduation? Is it the same as a new grad or do they pay you differently? I'm thinking of applying to the BNFP but want to make sure that they won't be giving a really low pay for those who chose to go through their route. Any info will be greatly appreciated.:D

Actually, Banner is pretty competitive vs. other hospitals. I know somebody who just got hired at a Banner facility as a new grad RN and the pay was $27.50. So, yes the pay is the same as a new grad regardless of where you graduated.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I wasn't very clear. I was wondering how much they pay those nurses who signed a contract with them. The ones who went through the Banner Nurse Fellows Program. I want to see if they also get the same pay as the new grads who didn't go through that route. Sorry for the confusion.

I got in MCC Cohort for march. Its my understanding that you are hired just like any other new grad, but obviously they'd hire you first and work with you on preference of location and specialty. There is no difference in pay or other benefits. My concern was future education assistance. However, they clearly stated that they would continue their normal policy of paying for education. She even said that they encourage you to earn your BSN and higher.

Yes, the pay is the same for any new grad regardless of going through the Banner Fellows program and signing a contract. I know this for a fact!

Hi, I am loving these informative posts!! I put in my application for the March co-hort a couple of weeks ago cuz I was informed at the Dec. session that there were still some openings. Got a call last week and was scheduled an interview for next Thurs. Can anyone confirm that March is full? Thanks!!

Jbac,

According to the placement white board it appears that 8 spots are available at Gateway and Mesa for the March cohort. Here is the link https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/docs/hcies/placementWtBd.cfm?longDesc=1 Check it out!

Thanks Lopez. Will check it out.

Thanks for your posts! I have been desperately trying to see if they had additional openings for March, to no prevail. The same situation occurred over the summer with the October cohort and they were taking additional applications. However, the number you call and the person you e-mail for BNFP cannot tell you if there are openings or not because they are associated only with the community college! I have the placement board as a favorite on my internet explorer and saw there were 8 openings for each cohort, but I also know that Banner is cutting back and was not sure if that applied to the BNFP as well. I got my application in early this week and I was told that my application would be flagged for March 2009 as well. Hoping for a call...
